LEC Stand

The next big Lotus event this year will be the Lotus On Track (LOT) Lotus Festival to be held at Snetterton Race Circuit over the weekend of 13/14 Jun 2009. Planning is in an early stage but as it is 20 years since the M100 Elan was launched an LEC presence is planned. There will be an attempt for a World Record for Lotus cars and a possibility of a factory visit

LEC Stand

Postby ShaunM » Wed 06.05.2009, 10:42

Assuming we want one, we have the choice of were we want to put the LEC stand for this event. The choices are in the car park area (each model of Lotus will have it's own seperate area in th car park so we can have the stand with the M100's) or with the trade stands near the pits.

What we don't have is a Marquee tent, so does anyone have one we can borrow? I guess a trip to B&Q wouldn't be out of the question if not?

This is tunrning into quite an event.
If all is promised and there's going to be a good turn-out. A second Donington if you like, then I'm coming!

Ditto, I really would like to go to this but didn't want to end up wandering around by myself so was waiting to see how much interest there was before putting my name down.

If you want a pristine newly repainted Early M100 with opera headlights, LGM roll hoops and BBK on the stand then I am happy to oblige

can we camp in the grounds?

Hamiltons the canopy and car cover people lend Club Lotus a rally canopy at Donington. Club Lotus recommend their car covers in the magazine. I'm sure they might be interested in lending another. If they can advertise on it somewhere. Just thinking aloud. A&M

Shaun, before we think about Marquees etc can we check any insurance cover required, and if any is provided by the organisers. I would hate for us to have to stump up for injury or damage to people/property/cars should anything get airborne and land in a car park or on track! It was a pre-requisite for the tent at Hethel, hence us hiring through Lotus providers and taking advantage of their insurance. We do not have our own insurance AFAIK at present. We offset the costs by negotiating complimentary entrance tickets.

If we are proven to be covered, I have a mini marquee approx 15x30ft which we can use to house a stand etc. We can put it up on the Saturday.

Shaun,

If we (LEC) can make use of the mini Marquee Dave Eds is offering I think that would be great as it means we do not have to hire or buy one, given the limited number of outside events I'm not sure hire or buy is a good option when we can borrow  . I do agree that we need to check what the requirements are for Public Liability Insurance LOT as the organisers should be able to advise as it will almost certainly be a condition of their insurance that any other exhibitors must be insured. Once we have established the requirement we can see what sort of quotes we get for the level of cover stipulated.

PL Insurance will be sorted by the organisers, so no problems there.
Dave, will be great to use your marquee tent :D

All we need to decide now is (1) which cars to show (2) Whether to put the stand in the car park with the M100's or with the trade stands near the pits (3) who will man them.

The 2 offers of cars sound good to me, but who/how do we decide these things usually? Feel free to jot down your thought here or drop me a pm. Thanks

A car with a big turbo might look good on the stand. A good stock one might look cool as well. Will any of the turbo upgrades be fitted in time? Four would look very impressive. M&A
