Since fitting this chip/ECM I've had many pops and bangs as the fuel is clearly being sent through a bit rich. Not a problem ordinarily, but clearly a problem for MOT emissions.
Let's see what happens today, but I'm a bit scared to say the least.
I'm running a sports cat' already in my PIPER 2.25" system. And now a boggo S2 ECM. Awaiting a Paul Matty phone call with the results.
Roy did warn of a lack of a Lamda sensor on the S.E units. But ESM said the Everst Chip would bypass this problem. Perhaps this has a detrimental affect on emissions?
Have I read this right, you have an SE (open-loop) Everest in an S2? If so, then this will be your problem.
The S2 is closed-loop (O2/Lambda sensor next to the turbo). You can get a 1499 (S2) Everest which would use this & would not effect emissions at idle/fast idle since it only affects boost targets.
The SE works to a pre-set air-fuel ratio which is not as accurate as a reactive (closed-loop/S2) one. I believe the CO pot is missing from S2s too so there's no manual adjustment.
O2 sensors don't like sitting there idle. Once installed, they must be used or they'll go wrong.
If you do have an SE Everest, then sell it (not a problem) & buy an S2 (1499) one instead.
