A BIG BIG Thank You to Shaun for Organising this!!

A top evening on Saturday.

Good Food, Good Band, Lots of laughs, Great homebrew vodka , Invasion of LEF camp to find most had gone to bed, Midnight fence climbing & fence fall offing (in the case of rip). Thanks to Nick and Kim for hosting our late night/early morning drunken shenanigans in your tent.

An excellent Sunday.

I didn't realise how much attention Blackie gets, getting asked by the marshals if I could "happen" to break down and pull in so they could have a look during the Record attempt just felt bizarre!!! Also having various people from Historic Club Lotus run out and ask me if I know Graham somebody as he runs their JPS section and would love to meet me at various points during the day was also a little odd.

It was well worth hanging around until the end for the parade laps at speed, I even watched the last race which meant I didn't get home until around 9PM and almost ran out of fuel on route


Oh and Shaun I didn't realise you took that photo of me with the beer, I'm looking a bit like a dishevelled orangutan in it which is kind of backed up by y posture in the picture you posted in thread . The reason I'm squinting is because of an (unbeknownst to me at that point) alergic reaction to my suncream.

That was me at the back. No problem just didnt want to take to many chances with my beloved and the wife was in the car as well.

If i had known that was going to happen , i would have tried to get some track insurance. Was good going flat out on the straights though and some of the longer curves. To be fair i did keep the same huge gap all the time and caught up in the same place all the time at the end of the home straight and back straight when you must of been slowed down

Should of lent someone my AP's that day because i did't use them

If only i went with my brother and wife because both couldn't fit in my car for the track laps and the other could have recorded us. Oh I did and he did! Just need to watch it now.

Cheers to all involved in the organising, me and Kim had a fantastic time, Sunday night was hilarious!!! (dont think the rest of the campsite would agree )
Was great to meet a few more people.
Ian i hope you arnt spending to much time practicing snooker so you can nail your 1meter fence hurdle...

i was wearing suncream all day and im still sore!

Took some photos of some of the cars on the parade lap all at the same place as the one attached. They are not high res, 1.8 meg, but on screen you can see the drivers faces. By the way Gazza your wife looks quite happy so you must try harder next time. I expect you had someone taking this type of shot for you but just in case you didn't if any one wants the one of their car I will gladly email. Only did the Sunday but really enjoyed it and wished I camped out but my son wimped out. Nice to chat to a some of you although I must admit that Dave T looked at me as though I was out on the nick as I spent some time looking in cars at what others had done to theirs.

Someone at work who has an Elise came up to me today to tell me there were shed loads of Elans there! He singled out G UK's Elan and said his ambition now was to buy an Exige and customise it in the same style!

Can't imagine it being anything like this years event again.

It was a race day that was also Lotus day which probably will happen next year, but doubt if as many Lotus will turn up unless they go for another World record attempt and the best bit the so called one lap waving Parade/4 lap track day was for the 20th anniversary of the Elan so wont happen again for another 10 years

Like you say Gazza, it's the people who make the event - the more who turn up the better the event is! I'm hoping for a big turnout next year, who knows - there may be the opportunity for parade laps, etc next year - you never know. We can speak to Paul nearer the time (next year), and see what "extras" we can get!

Nice thought, Shaun but the 20th was a good & legitimate excuse for some parade laps.
Lotus' 60th was good last year & the factory's 40th (which I couldn't get to) was the year before that. Something seems to crop up quite reguarly so who knows? If nothing else happens, maybe we could arrange an LEC meet & convoy somewhere, independently of anything else?

A big thanks to Shaun for the tickets and organising the day!

Excelent day and nice to meet up with some of you all.

Great fun.....the cars first outing since we bought it, and a throw around the track proves what nice handling it has....although new dampers are definatly required!

My wife and i think that was the first time in about 12 years we have been bck there [ i was racing then], so very nostalgic to be back [ breakfast in Tyrells]and an early start!

We were very impressed with the car [ it was its first real outing since she bought it ] and top down all weekend ment we both got burnt.

Next year we will hopefully have both cars [Elan & Sprint], and my father in his Type 54 Elite....so a family outing [ and our son can come as well then].

Thanks again Shaun and all involved in organising the convoy ... and the day.
