Many thanks for sorting this out the parts look the biz - looking forward to fitting - done the hard bit and took the old one off ages ago - it involved a Dremmel with a grinding wheel, old cleaner pump-spray filled with water and a pair of mole grips - ooh and a screwdriver to remove the odd non-corroded one

Many thanks Paul for sorting this out.

Fitted them a few days ago - pretty straightforward - fiddley more than anything - great piece of kit and the BFG looks so much better - I managed to use the larger size spire clips all the way round - the 4 thin ones supplied looked like they may be a bit more fiddley to get in place since they will be a tighter fit. For what it's worth.....just incase anyone wants instructions.

To remove the old lip - took me around 2 hours, to fit the new lip and clamping plated - about another hour

Tools I used to get the job done

Penetrating oil
Jack and axle stands/long low ramps
Philips Screwdriver
Small flat bladed screwdriver
Large flat bladed screwdriver
Preferably a battery operated screwdriver/drill
Dremmel with Grey grinding wheels - the pink ones are too soft
Water spray - a bathroom/kitchen cleaner spray pump bottle will do
Eye protection
Mole grips
pliers
Stanley knife
disposable PVC gloves (optional) - available from screwfix et al - saves you getting too messy and helps prevent cuts and grazes.

Copious amounts of tea

When I saw the advert I always thought a Dremmel was a bit of a poncy tool - however I have found it to be superb for Lotus work since the attachments are relatively gentle and with a flexible shaft - really good for awkward places, and if using water - less risk of electrocution. If you go to B & Q and get their own range tool it is really cheap £30 ish) and comes with a load of attachments - including the grinding wheels - the only downside is that it burns out pretty fast - I've got through 3 of them and never had a problem getting them replaced by B & Q, though in the end I preferred to get a proper Dremmel since having to down tools and return to B & Q was a pain.

Method
At least a day before - spray all the screws liberally with the penetrating oil - the more screws you can unscrew rather than grind off the better - I managed about half.

1) Raise the front of the car up
2) Use the screwdriver to remove what ever screws you are able.
3) grind the heads off of the screws that are too badly corroded - ensuring you keep everything cool by stopping grinding and spraying with water - I often don't use safetyglasses - I find they can obscure vision - but on this occasion they are a must- this is a messy job with lots of grot flying around
4) grip the remainder of the screw with the molegrips/plier and twist off
5) Take the small flat bladed screwdriver and push it through the hole where the screw went and push gently against the top of the old clip so that it spreads it apart - you should now be able to remove the old spire clip
6) there's a large rubber bung under each front corner - just twist and pull - it gives access to a couple of the spire clips in the corners
7) take the new spire clips, grip them with the mole grips and splay the clip slightly with the large flat bladed screwdriver so it doesn't grip quite as tightly on the fibreglass - I aimed for a gap of around 2/3 mm - otherwise I found it almost impossible to get the clips on because the fibreglass is quite thick.
8 ) there are 2 sizes of screws supplied - the 4 narrower screws go with the thinner spire clips.
9) once all spire clips are in place, offer up each section of the clamp plate to check the holes are in the right place - mine were - no problems.
10) Take the new rubber lip - ensuring there is overhang of around an inch at the wheel arch, I started using one of the corner clamping plates than worked my way round - I guess I could have marked the rubber lip half way and done the same with the middle section of the clamping plate and simply matched up the marks - it would probably have made the job a bit easier.
11) I found it easier to use one of the middle holes in the clamping plate to start off - trying to do one end makes means the plate is difficult to hold in place since the weight of the plate is pulling it down - also there is a risk that the weight of the plate hanging on one screw fitted to the end will rip the fibreglass - whereas in the middle everything is more balanced - ensure your electric screwdriver is set to its lowest tightness setting (torque) - otherwise you'll bugger up the spire clip
12) when all the screws are in place, trim off the ends with a stanley knife
13) step back and admire your work
14) Go for a test drive - you need a reward
