Serpentine Charity Run

Presented by the
Cheshire Lotus Owners Group

Sunday the 28th June 2009

Open to all types of classic cars, sports cars and classic motorbikes
the event will start at 9:30am from The Buxton Community School and
involve a route though the Peak District National Park and some of
the UK's most beautiful scenery.
Entrants will be given their route maps at the registration point,
where they can also get refreshments (free tea and coffee, bacon
sandwiches at a small cost etc…), and from where they will also be
started at regular intervals.
The journey will be approximately 100miles and will involve several
stops at places of interest as well as stops for refreshments etc and
will culminate in a display of all the cars at the finish line in one
of the Peak Districts historic locations (it's a secret until you get
there) around mid afternoon.
This is not a race and the planned journey time though the Peak
District is to be around 4 hours to allow you to enjoy the scenery,
stop for lunch or a picnic as well as enjoy your driving experience.
There will be an entry fee of £10, which should enable a substantial
donation to the chosen local charities to benefit.

Went on this run for the first time last year and, despite the mixed weather had a great time.

Immediately afterwards, SWMBO insisted that we go again the following year. Her navigating skills from the route notes surprised even me!!

The scenery was absolutely stunning and there were some great roads on the drive. Thoroughly enjoyed seeing the other cars and chatting with their owners at the stops and finish. Even getting lost two or three times, with some others, added to the fun. :lol:

If I remember correctly there were about four or five Elan M100s last year. It would be nice to see a few more this year and it does help raise money for charity. :poke:

A reminder I received by e-mail and as Gareth is otherwise engaged at the moment.

"Dear All, Ref. the Serpentine Run.

It's that time of year again!

Please find attached an entry form for this year's Run
at the end of June.

If you have already received one, and maybe returned it completed,
I apologise, and thank you. I don't want to bother Gareth at this time
as he is living in at the hospital with his wife who has had a
3 months premature baby (1lb 3oz!).

If you know anyone who has not been contacted I would appreciate
it if you would pass on details.

Can somebody confirm that this is the Buxton Community School on College Road as Goggle Maps gives me a couple of options.
Coming from Cumbria so early enough start for a Sunday and don't need to get lost.
