I thought 5 hours was slow compared to others - if it is any consolation, it took 8 hours to replace the stock gear shift cables with AB's the following week and they didn't really need doing! (I discovered my stock cables were in good nick) - 5 hours of that was trying to get the cables routed through - I worked out the correct technique after 4 hours and 50 minutes!

Last question for today - it mentioned BP Energrease LC2 in the install instructions - am I likely to find that in America at an Auto Parts store? Or is there a similar product I should be able to pick up?

It's more a case of where you live...

Is it dry and sandy in your neck of the woods ?...

But saying that..... Dave is liberal with the grease on the other mounts, so just squirrel some from there...

The only worldwide grease I can think of that's similar to what Dave recommends is mobil 28 grease...

Just wanted to say a big thanks to Dave.

I fitted the short shift on Sunday....it took me a couple of hours...more time spent reading the workshop manual then actually fitting it...I just wanted to be sure !!!

Instructions were clear and it works a treat. :D

Thanks very much dave a great product.

Now to sort out the gear knob! and maybe the length of the gear leaver, as long as it does not effect the effort on the change.

I bought a new gearknob off ebay - shortened the stick a treat since it has a longer hole - so no cutting required - which means I could change it back if I wanted, and looks pretty good too

use this description to find it:

Royal Leather Gear Knob LOTUS Elise Elan Espirit

a few others have done the same

Let us know if you want photo's

Thanks BFG,

I have found the bit on e-bay and am ordering today!

Sorry about the spelling.....so used to auto spell check - it becomes a bad habit!

From the upgrade thread :
maz_r wrote:Dave tells me he's all sold out and *might* consider another run if there is enough interest.

I feel a list coming on......

4.lansledj
5.
6.
7.
8.

(Admins - should this now be in Group Buys??)

I would just like to point out that this list is purely to gauge interest. It does not imply any commitment to buy, or supply for that matter :-)
The reason for my hesitation on this is that previous interest has mostly, with one notable exception, been low key. 6 enquiries since Feb tells its own story :?
I need to bulk buy some of the raw materials and can't afford to make the investment only to have it lying around for months on end, or even years in the case of one particular part

I am interested also. Don't know if posting as a reply is right, but it's only way I can figure out. Once there is enough interest, I would be willing to make a deposit to cover necessary costs.
