replacemnt seats

can some one please tell me if you can put any bucket seats into the elan seat frames . im thinking of getting my worn seats repaired . but the cost to do this is far more expensive than buying a new pair. has anyone put replacement seats of any makes . i have looked on ebay a lot but not sure if any seat would sit on the frame or not .any ideas

i dont think there are any that fit straight in, do a search as there are a few people who have fitted them.

There's an Elan n/a on Ebay at the moment with BMW Mini seats fitted!

Might be worth asking him how easy they were to fit.

Probably not on the stock rails, but you should be able to put in any seat you want, as long as its measurements aren't too big for the space. It's a pretty narrow space between the door sills and the center tunnel. LGM has Momo seats in her's IIRC.

has anyone fitted any seats straight on the existing sub frame with any work to it. my seats are so knackered now and need a quick and simple repalcement pair. well it has to look nice .any pic or makes you can suggest

im trying to put two new bucket seats to my car and need some fitment advise . The seats im trying to buy are 89 cm high, front to back is 62 cm and width is 56 cm.
each seat, each runner is 32cm long, and 3.7cm wide. The runners run down the length of the seat front to back, and are parallel to each other. They are 44.5cm apart when measured from the outside of each runner, or 40cm when measured from the center of the holes which can be found on each runner. Each runner has two holes in it, which are approximately 27cm apart.

do you think these would fit straight in with liitle modification or do i need a subframe of some time sort. any advise how i could do this would be appreciated .
is there anywhere on here which gives the full seat + runner measuremnents.

Dave, as I'm working on my seat replacement project I've been using your measurements in this thread and found something out of order. I measure the distance from right to left holes from the centre mark of each hole (or as close as i can get it) at 34.4 cm, not the 33.7 you are showing. I may be off my a milimetre but its definitely not 33.7 cm. Do you recall what seat you measured? Is it possible the driver and passenger seats are different? Coud the fed seat be different? I've got the passenger side out now which is the right side.

Two stripped tubs, Four seat mounting holes, 34mm just a squidge under on some.

That doesn't help does it...

I drilled out my holes according to the measurements I provided here annd then lined them up to the holes on the seat rails They matched to within 1 or 2 mm (probably due to my drill wandering a bit). They also seemed to line up to the holes in the bottom of the floor. This is a bit odd indeed.
