O2 / Oxygen / Lambda sensor - UK part #

Postby ashm » Tue 11.08.2009, 14:25

I've been thinking of ordering an everest and taking the opportunity to go closed-loop at the same time, but run up against the lack of a UK supplier for the lambda sensor. The US Denso, Bosch and NGK part numbers drew a blank over here, however I've just had a response from lambdapower.co.uk with a UK Bosch part number equivalent to Walker #250-23127:

Bosch #0258005701

Has anyone tried this part yet?
It's fairly pricy at £88.99, but lambdapower are happy to take it back if it doesn't fit. If nobody else has checked it out I'll probably order one to find out. I reckon it'd be good to have availability in the UK, even if it is more expensive.

Adam,

The O2 sensor was on Amazon in the USA for $35 when i was after one a few months back - the only thing is that they'll ship to US address only - but if you had someone over there who could take delivery and forward it on, It'll take about a week all in, but save you ££££££££££££.

Just the one now, but this one's mine! - and it will be finished eventually..... - but also temporary custodian of a project until it is finished enough for Angie to drive it

Hi

I'm wondering if the Bosch part no 0258003277009 / 13277 might be a better bet. I have a brand new one and it is exactly the same as the one I've just taken off the S2 - even down to having the same plug.

HTH

Jim

p.s. Ironically they're made in Germany but still heaps cheaper when bought in the U.S.

I'm not entirely sure of the differences between the various Bosch and/or Denso ones is......

...obviously, some are a 'universal' fittment, and you wire the plug up accordingly, but many are a straight 'plug-and-play' :?

Why so many? especially as they all claim to be a suitable fittment for an Impulse???? Do they have different qualities of sensor? I have to admit to knowing very little about them - but I've retro-fitted one, with a 1499 switcher chip and it works, so it must be the right one!

Narrow-band O2 ensors are pretty simple affairs. They don't measure degrees like a wide-band sensor does. They only send a high or low signal (measured against a reference point) instead of sending an actual variable reading which could be used to operate a gauge, for instance. That is where more-precise wideband O2 sensors come into play. Those units actually measure the oxygen content as a percentage of the exhaust gas.

BTW that's a really good price. RockAuto lists the Bosch 15701 for $59.79!

I'm going back to the states and was thinking of getting some Lambda sensors to flog to you guys 1st, then ebay.
If you look on www.discountautoparts.com they sell em for the Impulse RS, I got one for Coupeboy who says it fitted & worked perfectly so if you want one just let me know.

I'm going around 7th Sept for approx a month.
