Camping 21st-24th August

I will join up with you all on the Friday and Saturday with my son, but will not be camping as I have a caravan on the site next to you….

So, whatg do you think about meeting at tankersley roundabout MacDonalds at 6.30ish then we can all go over woodhead or snake pass together?

Im now thinking of using only one campsite for all three nights that way it saves on pack up and down time (remember my bloody tent at snetterton

The area is hardley huge so we can still visit quite a few places...

Thanks for the offer. I may be very lucky and have her back on the road but it may mean a late session in the garage on Thursday night and as such I still need a back-up plan. The turbo is currently at Turbo Developments and they are hoping to work on it tomorrow which means I'll hopefully have it back on Thursday!!

Holy early start, Batman! M1 J36 is over 2 hours from me, which means a 4am start.
What do I think? - I'll be cream crackered by lunchtime.
I agree about 1 campsite being better. Striking a tent then pitching it again later in the day is not that appealing to me either.
Were we really that noisy in Snetterton? I blame Shaun's vodka. The fact that I drunk it was not my fault at all.

im not having much joy booking, found an ideal one but the snotty owner 'was not prepared to take the booking' as he doesnt like more than 3 people in a group even if it is mixed...

we are booked on the quiet site so we do have somewhere to stay if all else fails.

We can meet later Iain, if its to late it would be a 20mph drive all the way as it gets choked up with traffic.

looking again at the map the A57 snake pass would be better as we could stick to A roads and stay away from the M60 taking the A537 then A54 towards Chester then round the A55

I apologise as this is the first attempt for me to organise a trip.

forgot to add, the camping is a staggering £4 p.p.p.n! even i can afford that!!!

and i warn you now i need regular fill ups as £20 is the most i can put in my car without melting tarmac

No need to apologise! 1 camp site is a perfect idea Don't worry about "snotty" campsite owners - if our money isn't good enough for them, then that's their problem!

At the end of the day, it's a holiday so no need to get stressed, but i know how stressful it is trying to organise these things (Snetterton was hard enough and probably not as much work required as for you on this trip!). Basically once we meet up we can sit with the map and a beer and work out where and when we want to go (as long I get my way of course! )

I think you're quite a bit further from Sheffield (E end of Snake pass) than I am too? a 4am start for me would be about 2.30 for you. Ouch, that really is severe. We'd both need some sleep about lunchtime..

7 sounds a bit more, er enjoyable than 4. Should be able to drive roof down all the way by that time too, except, wet stuff is forecast for Friday. Bugger.
Still, the Met Office have been getting it wrong all year so who knows..

As per my phone calls today, thanks for thinking of me, Blackie is still awaiting a turbo and as such cant make this engagement, luckily however I can and all thanks to Rips offer of a pax seat.

One bonus of not working on Blackie tonight however has been being able to play and complete Tales of Monkey Island Episode 2 "The Seige of Spinner Cay" which was out today and has now been duly completed. Another advantage as far as I am concerned (not as much for anybody else) is that I have already made headway into the cases of beer for this weekend, which I believe I owe from last time.

Glad I joined up with you all for the beginning of this weekend, it was good to put some names to faces and get some advice.
As for the event, nice one Nick for organising and picking the camp site next to me, if it was not for that I would not have gone and missed out on a good weekend and meeting such a nice bunch of people. All of which was made that much better with the good weather we had.
A big thanks from me and Ben for a great weekend and to you all for watching out for my son Ben, hopefully this will be a repeat event and I will get to see you all again at future events, along with Grahams car which sadly never made it but he made up for it with his karting skills…
