Hello Everybody,
I am new here and looking around to buy an Elan, i have found sommething intresting but she has a broken windshield.
I have been looking around to get some info regarding replacing the windshield but didn't find any detailed info, regarding cost, A beam seals...
Who can give some input regarding this as i am willing to buy this car, but want to know what is the cost to fix the problem.

Dico (Paul) had his done a few years ago at a lotus dealer and the bill was over £1200

Buy the car. Then claim on your insurance for the windscreen. It will only cost you about £60 then....

Hello,
I think i have a problem claiming the insurance company....
The car i want to buy is in Germany and needs to go thru a technical inspection in belgium before i can insure it.
so if the crack is in the window then i can't get it thru inspection.
and have to pay the full cost, i just called the carglass guys and i would cost 995€.

Ah, I see your problem! Could the guy who owns it now not do it through his insurance?

Not that this helps a great deal...as it was over fifteen years ago, but I had my windscreen replaced at Hethel, the car was on it's way there when it cracked...long story...but it cost me £650 even way back then.
Whatever you do, make sure someone does it properly. Being in a car dealership, I have seen some horrible jobs done by the so called 'windscreen specialists'... unfortunately they have neither the time, parts, seals and clips... or often the inclination to do a tidy job.
