Billet Aluminum Door Pulls

I'm with Lotos. An aluminium door pull would be great, but it should be closer to the shape of the original, in my view. The hard edges (the angular grooves at the leading and trailing edge) don't suit the car, nor do they marry with the rest of the door trim.

But a smoother, more flowing shape and I'd have been up for these.

I concur. A satin or brushed finish would suit me best as well + it won't get as hot on the surface.

Satin-finish is easy - Scotchbrite!
Getting rid of the groove is also easy and would speed-up machining time a tad.

So long as we can have around 15 people agree on one design we can go forward with the project.

What's the consensus on shape - as shown with stepped surface, without, or same as stock?

I'm happy in the groove or not The shape looks to be a bit more forward that the stock handle. Not a bad thing as on the stock pull there's a grey plastic gap that's visible between the edge of the CF escutcheon and where the leather insert ends. I wonder though what it would look like reveresed? With the pull looping backwards

1) Jackonicko - same as stock, no groove/ridge, satin/brushed - would buy, definitely. Wouldn't buy otherwise.

I'm happy without the groove as I've said above BUT I'm more happy if its NOT the stock shape. Brian will need to chime in here but it looks to me as though the shape is slightly more forward in his design with the curve slightly higher up towards the top of the pull. To me this is a better design that will allow your hand to fit into the pull easier and probably more comfortably. Its a small change (unless I'm seeing it incorrectly) that I think is an improvement.

It's taken a while to get enough interest for this project to go ahead - I'll need to check with the machinist if he's still willing to do this for us? Depending on that response, I will tweak the design to accommodate your feedback

Combination of things Doug - mainly my not being able to find a satisfactory machining source to work with
However, I may have a reasonable source for aluminum casting, so I can get them to quote this route, and get some costs together
