Wouldn’t like to put her back together, think it`s best just to let her rest, I reckon that a Lotus dealer/specialist it could cost as muck as 10k, some of the wiring loom was even ripped out :o. + if it was repaired it would only be worth 4k at the most being a Cat C or D. Now if a rear end damaged turned up would be worth putting pinkies Ass on it ;D but I can`t wait for that. Once insurance pay out I think I`ll strip her, but my money will be tied up in pinky, so I`ll need to sell parts off to get myself another M100.
Well you know what I have been hovering like a vulture for ;)

Shame but not a total loss.

Oh another thing, Dico rang me up saying he went past that slip road were i lost it, and looks like someone else has hit the same barrier and bent it over, which is strange cause another person yesterday was saying he went passed it and saw a blue bumper there next to the barrrier. :o

I`ve seen Cat C and D`s advetised and they can`t seem to sell or go for silly money. Like u said, more likely they`ve not been repaired correctly :-/ But there no way i`d pay more than 4K for one that has been in heavy shunt like mine. Thats why Alan (elanscanman) is selling his steel blue one, cause it`s hard to sell M100 at the best of times. But i understand that theres cars out there where u don`t no the full history. The word is Dodgey ;D

What terrible news. I feel for you, Monty. It's like losing one of the family. I'll never forget my '74 Europa Special after she was hit in 1980 and hauled off on the back of a truck. I never felt so sick in my life, and to this day, I pine for that car. It's like loosing a favorite dog- even a new one will provide some solace, but...You'll always have a place for Pinky, I'm sure. Best thing you can do is get back on the horse and ride it.

Good luck to you, my friend.

It would be interesting to learn of the remaining population from the original 3855+800 S2's. Of the 545 in the US originally- I'll venture 50-100 are gone by now.

I seem to take less chances now on weekend club drive outs thinking about all of this-maybe it's old age. But then again, a major shunt and it's all over. Tracks ofer a better environment, but those guardrails sure look like they are getting closer each time.

I'm selling the blue one mostly because I'll get more money for it. The red car is as good as the blue one (better now with its LSD and new shocks/springs) but if I have can have a good Elan and x pounds or a good Elan and x/2 pounds its a no brainer which to go for. The red one also got a respray as part of its repair so its no calypso pinky and looks pretty good.

I just got the red one back after a optiflex (4 wheel alignment) - its incredible how good the car feels on the high camber twisty roads near my house. It was good before but now its just spooky. Went well in the snow this morning too!

Yikes! Spinning at 70! Sounds scary and shitty! Glad to hear your OK though Monty - better the car than you.

I think the suggestion of experiencing a spin under controlled conditions is a very good idea, better to know what it feels like and how to deal with it (if you can). Does anyone know a place where you could do some sort of 'spin control' course or, failing that, somewhere safe to try it out?
