Four M100’s committed to attending LOG 30!

I attended the 25th Annual Classic on the James car show today. Two M100 showed up both very nice red cars. One owned by a woman, yes a woman – wonderful we need a more diverse group of people IMHO. There were two other M100 owners in attendance (one of them me). Every one of us committed to bringing their cars to LOG 30!

We've been planning a trip to DC for a while, and I may schedule it around LOG30. We won't have our M100, but it'd be nice to go anyhow!

I screwed up. I brought an empty camera case.

It was exciting to talk M100s with the other folks. All the typical stuff: windows, headlight lifts, mountain chips, PCEs, exhausts, blow-off-valves, fresh air intake systems, interior trim... There were some interesting mods on the two cars that were present.

I very much hope that there is more M100 participation at next years' LOG in Gettysburg than this years' in Birmingham. At past LOGs there were enough cars to have our own class at the autocross. Being in the autocross pre-staging line with 5 or 6 other M100's is fantastic. A couple of times there have been M100 technical sessions where we get together and look at cars and parts in detail. Also we have had M100 breakfast bench racing sessions where socialize a bit. Mostly it depends on how many cars are present and someone stepping up to do a bit of organization.

If you show up without a Lotus you won't be alone. We have attended two LOGs without our car.

Very cool - I believe the wife is on-board with my planning. We'll do DC, then LOG, then drive to Philly, then New York. Should be great if I can get it all worked out!

LOG 30 Plea

Postby DeanG » Sat 26.09.2009, 14:18

I’m guessing a that there will be a number of people coming to LOG without cars and a great number of people who have a more cars than they can drive to and from LOG. :poke:

We hope to have three cars ready for LOG. Getting all three to and from LOG will be difficult without help.

I think it is too early to start trading rides. I also think it is time to start thinking of what cars you want to take to LOG and what you would do to help someone move cars (and score a ride).

I hope this can be a forum for trading rides.

I'll definitely trade a ride in my rental Ford Contour for a ride in a Lotus. Sounds fair to me

Here are a few pictures of M100's at previous LOGs.

Note the 6 red M100's waiting their turns at the autocross. There was at least 1 white M100 that also ran the autoX. If my memory is correct, this event was held on the proving grounds of an auto manufacture. It was smooth as glass and had great grip. There was a full circle as part of the course that was at least 100' in diameter. I was able to play with over/under steer using left foot braking and power. A great experience.

Also note that here is photographic proof that M100's get into the front row of the car show (oh ye of little faith). Two of the Lotus Ltd board members own M100's, they do not get left out.

Less than 12 months left to LOG 30. Please consider attending this grand event. Also please consider running the autoX. Where else is there an opportunity to compete against other M100's and their owners?

LOG 30 Contest Announcement

We the committee members responsible for the 30th annual Lotus Owners Gathering (LOG 30) are pleased to announce that several contests will be held in conjunction with the event. We solicit your participation. The contests will be:

Children’s’ – Open to Lotus related arts and crafts created by a child.

Craft – Any Lotus related object or performance that isn’t a photograph or model. Please contact the Contest Chair if you wish to enter a performance work in this category.

Hard Luck – not actually a contest but a way of recognizing people who surmount adversity to attend LOG. The person(s) acknowledged usually have overcome a series of mishaps, a major breakdown or accident.

Honest Jack Colegrove Liars Essay – An essay contest on the topic of “Why I didn’t bring my Lotus to LOG”. The winning entry is often read by the author at the banquette and published in reMarque. Essays will be judged by a select group of Lotus literati who value tall tails and story telling over mere fact.

Long Distance – Categories are:

· Furthest distance drive in a Lotus to LOG

· Longest distance tour in a Lotus on the way to LOG

· Furthest distance towing a Lotus to LOG

· Furthest distance traveled to LOG

Model – A miniature of a Lotus related object, usually a car but it could be a representation of any significant in object in the history of Lotus.

Photograph – A Lotus related original photograph.

Additional contests and categories may be announced as feedback is received and event planning progresses. Except for the Hard Luck and Honest Jack Colegrove Liars Essay all events are judged via “people’s choice” of registered LOG attendees. Detailed contest rules are being developed and will be available ASAP. So; start planning your route to LOG. Start planning your craft entries, searching for a model kit of your favorite Lotus, review your best photographs and warm up your word processor. Get those creative juices of yours flowing.

Are you a professional? If you are a professional artist, photographer, writer, model builder and etc. please contact the Contest Chair.

Gallery Announcement and Solicitation

This year at LOG 30 there will be a gallery event encompassing the traditional arts and crafts competition and a display of Lotus memorabilia. The gallery will be open for viewing and voting only during a short period of time. This will concentrate the activity making it an event to be experienced rather than the red headed stepchild of LOG.

There are many talented people within the membership of Lotus Ltd. Each year at LOG some of these talented people present examples of their passion for Lotus in the form of photographs, models, arts and crafts. At this event everyone will be able to view the fruits of their labors. In addition each registration brings with it the opportunity to vote for their favorite pieces in a variety of classes.

In addition to the arts and crafts show there will be a gallery of rare and intriguing Lotus memorabilia. The intent is to create a museum style setting for the display of: original drawings, autographs, ephemera, bits of famous race cars, rare model kits, vintage posters, photographs and etc. from Lotus history.

Please consider bringing an example or two of your Lotus related arts and crafts to share with your fellow Lotus enthusiasts. In past years items have ranged from exquisitely detailed tiny models through stained glass windows to needle point. A wonderful outpouring of items is expected this year.

If you have a bit of Lotus memorabilia you would like to display to the largest gathering of Lotus enthusiasts in the Western Hemisphere.

I suspect a lot of you are aware, but the Hershey Fall Meet, one of the largest antique car shows in the world will be held October 5th to 9th just 50 miles away from Gettysburg. I have been to this show many times and always enjoyed it. As a relatively new M100 owner, living in the Montreal area, I have been looking forward to LOG 30.

I will probably take in the first days at Hershey, and continue on to Gettysburg for the LOG 30 event.

The LOG 30 registration forms are now available on the Lotus Ltd site http://www.lotuscarclub.org/log30forms.php The discounted early registration closes July 1.

Expect pictures of the apparel shortly (a week or two?) I have seen some preliminary art work for the various shirts and such. Once the pictures are posted we will make our selections and send in our registration. We already have our room booked.

At this point we intend to have 2 or 3 cars at LOG. The M100 and Seven will definitely be there. The 67' Elan is a bit iffy at this time. Updating the garage is already 3 weeks behind schedule and the M100 still needs some attention. We will use the M100 for touring. The Seven will be entered into the Concour and maybe the autocross.

I hope to see a good turnout of M100's this year.

Dean,

Is the full registration required to be a spectator at any event? We're planning on attending about one day only (probably Saturday from the looks of the LOG event schedule), just to walk around and look at the cars and stuff.
