The LEC Stand

To provide a focal point for LEC at the show and to publicise who we are and what we do and just as place to put faces and internet personas together (scary ) we plan to have a LEC stand at the show. We have a few thoughts about how we want to develop the stand a little more, but everything has to be transportable in an Elan, or series of Elans. I expect we will be asked by Club Lotus to pay a pitch fee or at least pay for table hire and electricity etc. On this basis I see no issues with selling our (limited) range of merchandise on the stand. Any parts we have and are selling can also be sold over the stand but by prior arrangement only please as I'm sure those who are holding the parts woill wish to have a say in that particularly if it makes travelling to this event in their Elan a challenge!

Blackie is available for display purposes if wanted and she should hopefully have Simons roll-bars and Bobs Rear brakes fitted by then, barring any disasters. I've also possibly got a few bits and bobs which can be displayed/sold with proceeds to LEC when I've had a sort out.

All this of course hoping I don't blow anything else up first.

I'll not be at Malvern as work committments ensure I'll be out of the country for 6 months from mid March. I've booked a space for the stand with Club Lotus and reserved us 2 tables and a single power socket. The stand is currently with me and will need to be in the hands of someone who is going to Malvern and able to set up on Friday afternoon and take down on Sunday evening. I have a couple of offers for this but as it involves people putting themselves out to a considerable degree if anyone who could do this is in the Bournemouth area before mid March and could collect the stand from me it would be helpful, it will fit in an Elan (I designed it that way) but you won't be carrying a passenger as well.

We also need a willing volunteer to co-ordinate the stand for the weekend, not a major task and ideally the same person who sets up on Friday and takes down on Sunday. The main downside to this is that it limits your freedom to wander around the show. However the stand has always been well manned by volunteers (the "Roster") so it is certainly not a full time 2 day committment.

Finally we need cars for display, I note Graham's offer of Blackie above and if that offer is still open I'd like to accept please, another one or even 2 cars would be great but a single car would still be fine. Whoever provides cars for display will be without their wheels for the weekend so will welcome offers of transport to and from etc from those who don't display their cars.

Come on folks don't be shy, none of these things happen by accident!

I'd put mine on but (a) it's shabby and (b) I need to get around! oh and (c) I think 2 black cars would be a bit OTT (even though it's the best colour)

If you're stuck, I'd be happy to put ours on the stand. Its nowhere near concours, its even got a "bruise" on the rear bumper and a small gash under one of the sills, but its clean enough and I guess I could polish it up a bit. I'm only planning to attend on the Sunday, but I could trailer it up on the Friday, help set up, then pick up at close on the Sunday. Obviously I'd leave the keys with someone responsible (if such a person exists )...I'm guessing its my risk if bits get nicked or damaged?

That is indeed a fine offer, sorry I only just noticed your post.

By all means - it would be excellent if you could bring your car along.

I'll look after the keys for you - pending the arrival of a trustworthy Elaner.

Sadly it will be at your own risk - but they'll be a lot of other exotic machinery there so you aren't alone.

Maybe we'll see you Friday afternoon.

.... as luck would have it, Specky never collected his (he forgot) so it will be going to Malvern anyway (plus i have a couple of other 'clips' collected from various intwernet sources (not just "You-tube" quality, but mostly lots better - torrentz are great!)

A quick thank you to all the team who made the LEC stand a success.

It was good to meet some new owners, I spoke to 4 myself - hope I didn't put them off too much.

Special thanks to Gareth, Graham and Geoff for setting up the stand. Mike for lending his superb NMY S2 that caught everyones eye as they entered the hall'; Nick, Kim, Mike Dave P and Graham for dismantling the stand and dispersing the bits I couldn't manage.

Thanks to Dave S, Martin, Bob, Neil etc etc for doing stints. Thanks to Gareth for the clothing and all the other bits.

Apologies to those I missed out - please flame me!

Apologies for arriving after 4 on Friday and missing any potential hard work putting up the stand. Did much the same trick on Sunday and simply enjoyed myself walking round the show and chatting to loads of folks.

See y'all at Castle Combe at the end of May.

(oh...and I've got a biggish box of stuff that didn't fit in Graham's or Jim's car. Not sure what it is but probably should be with the stand. I did say I'd bring it to Combe....but it doesn't fit in the boot and I'll probably have a passenger that day. Who would normally look after this stuff? ...and where are they so that I can try and get it to them?)

Sincere thanks for taking this on this year as I'm somewhat otherwise engaged at present. The picture above looks as though LEC did itself proud again and the cars on display look the part as well.

Ultimately the stand (frame, mag strips, covering, artwork and lights) needs to find it's way back to me, but I'm not back in UK until Sep so there's no rush. I'm not sure what other stuff you may have collected so I don't know where that should go.
