Hi Gareth
In the advertisment the seller just says "18 inch Lotus alloys".......If he sourced them from Lotus then they were probably mega expensive (being Lotus + 18 inch).... To replicate the look you could buy similar looking after market alloys (Oz, Wolfrace, Mim ect ) ..... It is advisable to heed the advice made by other members on this site regarding wheel upgrades/ tyre sizes / offset ect ...as they can affect the handling of the car. ...Lots of members have fitted after market alloys without any problems and should be able to advise.

Jimbo said that he had similar ones fitted ...so you could send him a PM or E- mail for advice and ask for a picture of the alloys fitted to his car....

Fascinating history ... And being a pre production test car I bet there's lots of factory "graffitti" hidden behind those panels...

Matt

Sorry for not answering PM quickly. This car is not on the S2 register i'm afraid so can't tell you anything about it, other than it is in Midnight Blue by the looks of it. Very rare colour, only 6 others so far, 3 off which are left hand drive. By far the best colour in my opinion

If you can't view it yourself before the auction finishes maybe someone near to it could for you. Any offers?

Good luck, seems a good example with low mileage from the pictures.

It's simply not a great time to be selling.

Some people think it is

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1371892.htm

Can't believe they only had a £4500 reserve on that Midnight Blue one, like Jacko says not a good time to be selling but they must of needed the money or the car is not as good as it seems. If it is then someone got a real bargain in my opinion, r19? :poke:

Postby M100_DMM » Thu 18.03.2010, 20:51

This one has already been mentioned on the PH thread. The Ebay listing here has more photos, though.
Serial Elan owner: 2002 - 2012. I may yet buy another one...

Hmmm.

I know what I'd expect to pay for an Elan with 108,000 miles, and it isn't more than £6k............

And has the engine really 'dun' only 10,000 miles, or do we mean only 10,000 miles in this car? What's the service history of the engine, and can that record be proven?

What happened to make a new engine necessary? Has it been thrashed?

What sort of shape is the gearbox in?

And what about the ancillaries? The gearbox? The CAS?

And this is an old H reg car, still with the lovely perspex rear numberplate cover - is it still on original wishbones? Have the shock absorbers done 10,000 miles, or more than 100,000?

And yes, the seats have been done, but how well, and by whom? And what does 'done' mean?

So the 'rubbers' have been done? Seals or weatherstrips? Just the A-pillar seals, or all of them?

Upgraded brakes? Or just greenstuff pads on bog standard brakes (and on tired, tired old calipers?)

Having used greenstuffs, I'd issue a bit of a caution - they're great when warmed up, but after a long dash along the road, they are lousy. Using them needs careful preparation and foresight. (Warm the brakes as you get to a slip road, for example).

How about the rad, oil cooler, etc.?
