Very bad news Adam but most importantly you seem to be OK.
I hope that the insurers take a reasonable view.
Best wishes,

Adam,

Having met you and enjoyed a cuppa in your company, I know what an outstandingly good chap you are.

There is a standard Lotus exhaust sitting in my garage (at the Henley house, not in Benson) and it's yours, free, gratis and for nothing if it helps.

I could even drop it off in Hampstead next week........

Fellow members,

Young Adam's a modest chap, but he's quite an engineer, and is, in my view, a Bob Brown in the making. He's an asset to LEC, and likely to become even more of one. If anyone has any of the parts he's likely to need, there could not be a worthier cause to donate them to.

Ouch!!! Good to hear your ok.

Have you checked aftersales for bits? Maybe might get lucky. If poss get the car on a like to check suspension. Hopefully it's just the a arm and top link. Someone who went stainless may be able to help out with these bits.

i hate to see a damaged elan all the hours you put into keeping them on the road and it takes a split second to take you off,
adam if you need any help dont hesitate to ask.
looks like you need a rear quarter or a tub, for starters, aftersales list has a rear tub humble money, worth a call to see if its sill there
ive a spare rear wishbone you can have,
good luck

Looking at the pictures I would be suprised if the chassis has been damaged, I would have thought that the wheel alignment problem is deranged suspension parts, but I'm not an expert and am basing my opinion on the photos only. I think the biggest problem will be straightening the steel structure within the tub as that is probably why the drivers door does not fit as it should, essentially the B Post is out of alignment. This structure can be successfully pulled back into position as I know from first hand experience (mine was the A Post on the other side of the car). The body parts are available at a bargain basement price , and I believe also that Lotus may still have some rear sections available, I will check later and advise. I believe I bought the last new tub from aftersales to fix my car. However, I didn't need the parts Adam will need and it's already been offered if required (can't help with a rear bumper or light though).

So the assessment still hasn't been completed but it's not looking good :(
At the weekend I went through my Elan parts box - lots in there! New gearstick assy (last one from Lotus!), S2 cables, Dave's shortshift, front bearing, Bob's rear hubs & bearings, wishbones, SAMCO hoses, full cambelt kit inc. water pump, dash, B-post cover, spare wheels, the list goes on...

Out of interest, if it comes to buying her back for scrappage can anybody offer any advice as to the cheapest way to transport a damaged car? I don't have another car with a towbar at the moment so I guess it'd either be hiring a transporter truck or paying a company to shift it for me. Can anybody recommend a good source for either option?

Cheers,

Adam

If you let me know I'm sure a mate of mine will move it for you for the cost of fuel and a couple or three beers as I assume from where it is to yours and assuming it will load OK on to a car trailer
Will need to check his trailer is big enough but I have other options.

I would say thats will be written off, espcially with no agreed valuation. just to replace the tub would cost a fortune :?

But should be worth buying back to strip or if the chassis is ok then you could fit a new tub yourself if you`ve got the time.
