Well said that man. Good to see so many there despite the change of venue.

Good to see so many of the old crowd and quite a lot of new faces - sorry that there were so many absent friends. Special mentions must go to whoever organised the tented parking (much to the Esprit boys' disgust), Archie and TJi who probably travelled the furthest (but still had cleaner cars then me), Ron and clan who took the longest to get down (started out on Wednesday ), Benright for dragging his doting parents along and especially to Karen and Andy. It was good to see you all.

yes i travelled down at very short notice but as always Dave p and graham would make the wicked witch feel welcome good to but names to faces as well i am the fat one with glasses in pic as always thx to all and where did archie and rambo go missed you even stopped a few time to see if u caught up.

ROWLAND hello missed you as always hows all the family it was okay but possibly more could of been organised but as always its easy to pick holes in other peoples hard work so for a first time at malvern its a B- but i think some had good ideas of how to use the area better as i know the area reasonably well and there are some nice places very close to drive too.

i will do kay is great off on hols soon if volcano calms down just to let u know i have spoken to people up here we are doing scotland next year and will get a deinite date by sept so people can sort, many thx to the scottish area lotus club for allowing people to just organise a get together with out feeling there being ignored.

Thanks all from myself and Kim, we had a fantastic time and was nice to put some names and faces to usernames. Thanks to Rambo for the campsite, good find especially the sat night entertainment, thanks Graham for sorting transport, thanks Mr Pinky for treating my car as a mecano kit and showing me the contents of your tool box!!!

Great turnout well worth the drive, (good effort from the people from Scotland!)

Mark, where did u go this afternoon? I thought you saw us park up near you. We then went to speak to Andrew and his dad. I had a look around for you but your car had gone.
I made good time to Glasgow but the A8 and A9 were closed due to accidents so that made me an hour late. Then it got worse as it started to snow between blairgowrie and glenshee I thought at first it wouldn't settle on the road but it got very heavy and it did. It was hairer than Rambos head but I got through in the end.

Moving on to the journey home - the excitement continues!
I had a severe incident of engine compartment screaming - followed by clouds of blue smoke coming from offside front wheel arch, burning rubber and almost brown trouser syndrome at 80 mph on the M6 just north of J32.
Got onto the hard shoulder safely and recovered by an AA recovery contractor in just over one hour!
Cause - I'd been trying the air con earlier and from todays investigation it looks as if the compressor has seized, therefore the polyvee drive belt from crankshaft - compressor - steering pump burnt through - hence the blue smoke and burning rubber.

Therefore has anyone got a spare compressor or knows where to source a replacement or get a repair at the right price?
I'll put a technical query onto the forum also to cover this.

The electro magnetic clutch appears to be functioning correctly - ie locking when energised and free when switched off -therefore with the aircon switched OFF andthe fuse (No.2) removed I think that I can safely replace the belt and keep mobile whilst sourcing a compressor repair/replacement.
If anyone knows any reason why I cannot do this please respond!

Wow! Really sorry to hear that. She never let me down in all the time I owned her. I used to have a spare set of all the aircon bits, but I sold them to some-one on here. Can't remember who.

Still I guess it can be disconnected to get you back on the road?

The new owner of the bits is me - but the one on my car is leaking quite badly so I was going to swap it in and get mine reconditioned. If you get stuck let me know. As a short term fix you could just remove the pump and use a standard belt but you'd have to manage without aircon - in the UK that's probably not a problem though

Well one thing for sure the weather was really good and many thanks to everyone.
Still have no idea how our Elan came to have a baby on the Sunday as it was parked between an Elise/Esprit.
So thanks to who ever put the toy Elan on the car windscreen much better than half a forest of flyers
