Monty,
When it gets time to send the calipers back then what you send is what you get back interms of the configuration, all they will be doing is changing the inboard half of the caliper not the whole lot.

Cheers for that Bob, just glad it`s not a complete redesign of the rear brake setup. :-D

Hi Spec, faster than a speeding snail on tranquilizers!
sluggish2.jpg

Right they have done the prototype work and have tested them as far as bench testing and they appear to be fine.
They are about to make the parts to modify the ones I dropped off and hopefully they should be done in a week or so but that could be Hi Spec time 3 to 4 weeks!
Once they have been tested on a car and proven to be satisfactory, then I will give Hi Spec a list of the colours and they can then make up the required parts so the calipers can be turned round in a day or so.

I'd just like the handbrake to work. Went to the pub t'other day, came out and found the car had rolled away into the fence 30 feet away. And I had used BOTH hands to pull the handbrake on......

Hopefully the modifications should resolve the problems........

Bob thanks for your efforts, I'm a bit late to the party but have added my details. If you could let me know when HiSpec need the calipers it would be great as I have experienced their 'delays' many times before

6. Richard (Red, 256mm vented, 16" BBS, Bobs H/B cables)
7. MPx (Gold, 256mm grooved, 16" BBS, Bobs H/B cables)
8. Gazza (Red, 256mm Drilled, 16" BBS, Bobs H/B Cables) small leak already and not done 1000 miles.

Looks like we may have some progress, Hi Spec said I should have the modified calipers here next week.
Only taken them three and a half months, the snails quicker!
Once I have these fitted and tested (Steve A etc ) we will have a better idea of where we are and all things being equal Hi Spec can the produce the parts to start modifying calipers.
Will keep you posted on the results and when the caliper parts are ready.
I'll also have a look at making up some plugs for the fluid lines so they can be sealed while the calipers are off the car, just a blank to screw the banjo bolt into, do not what to make up loads may be 10 pairs so if you share them about.

That's an excellent idea Bob, many thanks for offering this. I don't have a tap of the correct size so can't make any plugs myself so was thinking I'd need to leave a couple of jam jars under the pipes to collect the fluid. I'll willingly send a set on to the next chap, and will offer help if required to anyone local to me (though I guess if you've managed to replace your calipers you probably won't need help here!).

Bob, keep up the good work.

Would be very interested in a set plugs as my car has been off the road since the MOT run out early in December. Need to get these rears sorted before testing as still leaking.

Thanks again, Gazza

Bob,
is it worth pulling the brakes off the car and sending them to you, or hold on for hispec to make the bits first,
my cars on axle stands at the moment so easy enough to get them off,

It will be better to wait until the modifications have been tested and I can then get Hi-Spec to make up the required parts in the correct colours such that people can send their calipers to them for modification.
Sending them to me will just complicate matters as it means I have to send them on so two delivery charges.

I used clingfilm under the filler cap and a couple of penny washers with a nut and bolt through the banjo very successfully.

Hi, any news on progress with this please. I have a set fitted that have been worse than poor in terms of hand brake since I fitted them, and now leak like hell and need bleeding through every couple of days to keep me on the road. Didn't want to take her off the road, but have finally given in and bought another car simply because of the brakes. Would love to add my name to te list and get the fix, just as soon as I here some feedback to tell me that the fix works.I have a feelng that I'm not alone.
Any update appreciated please. Thanks

Hi Spec are being their usual very slow and full of excuses selves.
I feel at time like I am banging my head on a brick wall, and in fact by doing so I may get a better responce out of the brick wall than I do out of Hi Spec.
If you take the last few weeks I have called them for updates several times, early part of last week it was they will be ready Friday, so gave them an extra day and called Monday of this week to be told they are doing some more modifications to the setup what I'm not sure as I could not get to talk to Geoff and he is the only one that knows what the F is going on.
