Donington 2011 accomodation, the early bird catches the worm

Postby Rambo » Tue 04.01.2011, 10:03

It was recently announced by Club Lotus that....

CLUB LOTUS SHOW AND FESTIVAL 2011 - DONINGTON PARK AUGUST 13th AND 14th

We've brought our 2011 show forward by one week from the date we announced last month.

This is because the Elise Trophy race meeting at Donington was recently changed from 20/21 August to the weekend of 13/14 August and it therefore makes sense to similarly move the show forward one week.

So our 2011 Donington date is now August 13/14 with a dedicated Lotus trackday on Friday 12th. In addition to the Elise Trophy there will also be a race for the new Lotus Cup Europe. It should be a fantastic weekend and we're really looking forward to it

Over the Christmas break I checked out our usual establishment for those of us who want to stay on a budget - East Midlands, Donington Park

http://www.travelodge.co.uk/search_and_ ... &from=list

Currently, you can get rooms rooms for Friday 12 August and Saturday 13 August 2011 for only £19.50 per night  Good value for money - as long as you don't share with Monty and Dico ;-)

I've just noticed that this thread appears under the Snetterton title. I've asked our Kitty Fiddler if he'd insert it in the correct place but if any other moderator gets to it first...... Thanks - and a Happy New Year to you all 8)

Edit - title edited, nowhere else to place the thread as yet! Dave Eds.

I have booked a family room for the said £19.50 / night

I don't know if I will be going yet but if not will pass room on. Will be trying desperately to go as this is why all the money was spent on the car..

May be an idea for LEC to book some rooms at this price?

I remember how busy it was last time and especially with Elise trophy on same weekend.

Nice idea but there was only one room left on Saturday at £19.50 then it goes up to £25. There are at least 4 rooms at £19.50 on Friday night, but if you try and book the two nights together, there is only one room available! Bobbing rastards - looks like it might be worth trying to book separately if you're going for two nights.

Ditto. :burnout:
Price now £29.50 per night plus cancellation insurance £1.50 (if you want it) plus £2 fee for credit card bookings.

PS: Can a moderator maybe move this to a "Donington 2011" thread. It took me a while to find it. Silly me didn't think to look under Snetterton. :bonk:

I think Archie and John_W are coming down with a contingent from NE Scotland. I'd expect most of the usual Caledonian crew - Rambo, AB2CV, young Mr. Rankin etc. to also be making their way south that weekend. Let's hope the weather in August is as good as it has been over the last couple of weeks.

No roof + no rear window = no sun = absolutely pishing it down for 3 days ;-)

All the usual Caledonian suspects will be there at the Holiday Inn or slumming it at the Travelodge.

Mark (not the hairy one, but the English one who thinks he's Scottish),

I still don't have accomodation booked, as i was going to throw a tent up (as was the original plan before the wusses got involved and wanted a 'hotel' ) at the showground.

It is still an option - i won't be making a final decision for a while yet!!!!

Just the one now, but this one's mine! - and it will be finished eventually..... - but also temporary custodian of a project until it is finished enough for Angie to drive it

...oh, and a 2006 Freelander destined for the jungles of The Gambia - 4500 miles across roads, desert and tracks - what could possibly go wrong?
