Is there any call for glassfiber cheater panels?

I have a mould for the cheater panels at the front of the doors that cover the screws that hold the door mirrors on. I'm looking to make some carbon fiber copies but in the meantime is there any call for copies made of glassfiber? They would be finished in a black satin paint and be ready to glue your existing rubber trim to. Does anyone know if these are still available from Lotus? Approximate cost would be £20 per pair posted in the uk.

They were on the lotus after sales list. I ordered a set throught Specky if it all goes ahead ok.

I would love a set in Carbon though 8)

I would also buy a set if available, sooner or later the OEMS will run out.

Mine are a bit knackered. I'll wait for the carbon fibre ones though.

Thanks for the replies, the glassfiber ones are easier to make, but the first carbon ones didn't come out too bad... just have a bit of refining to do.

They look pretty good, cant be any worse than OEM ! Will look great with my CF escutcheons, seat protectors, gear shift, gear knob etc :D

Chris, I think you would get a lot of interest if you could re-manufacture the B-post caps................................

Hi Andy, it's probably something I could do fairly easily. I thought there was someone else that was working on them though? Do you think that the caps should be made in carbon or glassfiber?

I am sure there are many like myself who will be willing to pay the extra for CF rather than GF for items such as these.

B post caps are available from Lotus dealer

I bought some not so long back.

And finally after a long long time, I have made new better quality parts and a mold to go with them. There are a few small air bubbles but all in all a great finish.

Hi thanks for the messages!! Yes I can make more of these, probably a pair a week at the moment (as the restoration of the Elan is taking time) As for price they would be around the £40 per pair - let me know if you are interested in a pair. I'm just in the process of taking the rubber surround off the old pair and gluing them on to the new pair.
