Sorry guys - I'm going to have to back out. I just re-read the post and noticed that Monty will only fit the first 5 boxes for free. I have contacted my mechanic and he reckons it'll cost me the best part of £500 + VAT so as Duncan Bannatyne says "I'm out" unless Monty has a change of heart and will do mine for nowt as I've been a pal for many years. I would consider a small donation to the there's only on f in Geof Smith retirement fund - sorry I'm being facetious - I mean the LEC funds

Works so well in reverse I don't drive forward anymore.

I'm curious what RPM are you doing at 70MPH in top (7th) gear. Or what MPH do you get per 1000RPM

ZF has announced a 9 speed gearbox and Chrysler a 7 speed. I believe both are to be automatic. I am guessing that both are targeted to diesel engined cars.

Monty has kindly agreed to fit another 5 foc. But you will have to act quickly.

Yes, its to reduce Co2 and improve performance as the ratios sit nicely within the narrow turbo diesel power band. ZF are pretty awesome, I was in a diesel Jag XF and it was really smooth with the ZF 6 Auto. I was very impressed it took the big saloon to 60mph in 6 seconds! But it won't fit in an Elan

I think you got that all wrong neckwinder-in-chief. It's actually PERS (Potential Energy Recovery System) and its being developed in Italy. All I've been able to find out is that it is code named FADRUPAMO.

I hear that the FAT DRIVER UP A MOUNTAIN testing has also been taking place in the Scottish borders and Pontypridd. Rambo achieved a terminal velocity of 145mph and Ailwyn nudged 167mph.
