Caring with Cars 2011 (Saturday 9th July)

I've just put my name down for this worthwhile event http://www.caringwithcars.com/ It's a very good cause and a great chance to look around some very nice cars, would be good to have some more Elan's attending

They have now upped the total car allowance to 450 so there still time to book your car in

Not sure which car to bring yet - both elans failed MOT (yesterday and today) - only on the brake efficiency and i only need to get an extra 1% on the red one, and sort out the imbalance on the blue one - not too bad, i suppose.

If tomorrows MOT on the Vectra goes well, it's looking good for Thursdays visit with the Dolomite

Who thinks putting 4 cars in on 4 consecutive days is a good idea????????

Seriously though, blue one has now had the brakes stripped and rebuilt, bled through and feels good to me, so it's going back on Friday, as is the red one (it's not been used much since last September and the trip to the MOT only got some of the rust off the discs - i'll strip and clean them tomorrow, and back on the rollers Friday )

Sounds like a really good event, I can't belive i didn't know about it. Chalton farm is a fabulous place and setting. I'm only gutted I can't go as I am at a wedding, bit like waiting for a bus then two at the same time!!!

Sorry Pinky I'm not going to be there but hope you all have a great time and the weather is good.

hope they raise loads of dosh as it costs about £3Million a year to run one of the hospices and they are about to open their third one at the end of this year, so the more they raise the better and all us car buffs get a nice day out in the process.

Had a really great day at the caring with cars event,, even if it was a bit wet to start with...soo many nice and expensive motors all for a very good cause
The car that did it for me the most was the Mclaren F1 and then pinky pointed out to me that it shares the same indicators and windscreen as our humble Elan
Took a couple of pics on my phone, most include my daughter to make my son who is car mad jealous because he had a football match and was unable to attend

Good day out, very well organised, great atmosphere - distinct lack of 'chavs' (he says, snobilly!), strong money raised for a great cause - even the burger van wasn't a usual rip-off (and consequently did good trade all day, to a high standard).

It was only 15 miles away as well - only slight flaw was that we met up with some other guys at Costa Coffee, where it was sunny, headed off roof down....

....yep, you know whats coming.....

....4 miles up the motorway, a bit of rain....

....5 miles up the motorway, a LOT of rain....

....it's okay - I'm following Ian, he knows the area nearly as well as i do - he knows that if we keep going at 50mph we'll stay less wet (nearly typed 'dry' then ), go the route as planned and that takes us under the motorway where we can stop and put the top up......

...except the opotunity to listen to the exhaust note of the car in a tunnel is too great a temptation ....

...so got a bit damp until we could stop a few hundred yards further on.

Got to the site and parked up in a field with the other 'common' cars (when you see the list of atendees, Lotus doesn't quite make the top tier )

Then the sun came out - all in all, a very good event, and hopefully to be repeated next year.

Not all the Elans parked in the 'common' cars field Yellow Elans are like blonde's they have more fun and privilege parking



Looking forward to 2012 event and hopefully winninng at least a Wurzels CD on the raffle
