Replacing plastic doorstrips

Thank you very much. I appreciate it. I am from Singapore. Been doing up this elan since I bought it in Nov 07. Slowly but surely it is coming to be something I find hard to part. Am thinking of upgrading to Everest Chip soon. But just a really silly question, as while I have read the webpage - I can't seem to find the info on where to find the so-call PROM ID code? Where do I locate it? Thanks again.

Look at the 13th digit of the car's VIN Code and compare with this page. This will tell you what chip was in it when new.
The other way is to hook up an Elanscan cable to ALDL connector and get a .ecu file -- this will give you the Prom ID of the chip in the car -- even if it has been changed since new.

I know this is a topic that has been played out a million times on here but i have the following question.

How many people have made their own and are happy with them ie "filling the gap"
I have taken mine out and as they came out in bits i can only give a rough measurement of 20mm which is a whole 9mm bigger than the 685 profile, now granted mine are curled up but looking at the gap with the window back in it looks like at least 14/15 mm would be required.

Are there any other options??? I won't pay SJ or Paul Matty prices as this is just bordering on taking the pi55.

Looking out there the widest seems to be 11mm, i am wanting to "dry" fit these first so when it comes back from paint i can just bolt them in...

If i can have feedback i would be most greatful as this is causing me concern at the mo.

Started to strip the car down ready for a respray and decided to do what I expect to be the most difficult part, i.e. remove the perished weatherstrips. I have to say, other than the rusty screws, it wasn't as bad as I thought.

I encountered the usual problems of rusty screws not only on the strips themselves, but also on one of the window bobbins. I managed to drill out the damaged screw and removed the remaining stud in the bench vice so t is all re-usable thankfully.

Clearly someone has been into the doors before as there are various fittings missing and the remaining screws are a real mismatch. One of the window sliders had dropped off the drivers side (all parts recovered and will be replaced) and one of the bobbins was completely missing on the passenger side does anyone know if they are easily available or does anyone have any sitting around looking for a home?

I will also need some of the retaining nuts that the door trim bolts fasten into, again there are some completely missing!

Always fun and games mucking around with 20 year old cars!

Got mine from paul Matty's ~ £40+VAT IIRC.

I asked to Paul Matty for a quote... 79.32£ + vat for a total amount of 218.57£ for the couple
does anybody knows a cheaper solution????????

I used alloy strips rather that the plastic tags but the cost ended up somewhere around £20 in total plus some fiddling.

I actually bought mine when I was at a car show here in the UK, though some others on here ordered from some of the general suppliers. If can find the relevant link I will let you know.
