M6 Rod Ends: $18.00 for the pair Plus inbound shipping
M8 Rod Ends: $20.00 for the pair Plus inbound shipping
Bob's Magical Kit: 110.00 Plus inbound shipping

Total: $278.00 Plus inbound shipping for a complete set of cables and fittings plus US shipping.

This is at MY absolute cost. NO profit being added.

I am working on the prices quoted to me to hopefully offset the shipping price.

This is compared to the UK price of $357.00 + shipping from the UK to the US

Prices get better with orders in the 20+ (10 cables) range.

Not competing with Bob, just trying to make it less expensive for people stateside.

Ironically, I just installed a set of AB cables and worked hard with the cable placement and have had no problem with stiffness.

Still waiting to hear back, but it's going to be within a few dollars of that. I was figuring $60ish per cable.

I can get there and even better but have to have 10 cables done at the same time plus shipping from Orscheln in Illinois as they are the only ones that say they can do all stainless fittings.

I am fine with it if you want to run with this. I have an account at Mid West Controls but that doesn't provide any better pricing. You need to buy at least 10 of each part to get any reasonable prices.

Just showing that US items can be less expensive if they stay in the US. Bob's magic parts kit is the real solution.

Those prices are not that far away from mine as I have to add in our VAT which adds 20% to the cables and rod ends and I have VAT to cover in material costs.
Do not forget to add in the cost of shipping from the supplier to you, may not seem a lot but you can soon be out of pocket if you do not allow for it.

I'll work out the exact shipping cost for the bits I make up to the USA once I have an exact weight.

I know I am cutting it tight, price wise, but expect to be able to haggle a better price for the cables once I get moving on the project.

I figured you were getting the best price on the components, but shipping them to the UK is expensive, so I can save members that much.

We have a huge boating crowd here with many lakes being used for pleasure crafts, but stainless is not used a lot. Aluminum bulkheads seem to be a more common choice.

I can't wait to really see a set of your cables.

For the people in the USA I do not think the shipping costs are going to be that high as it's all small parts or parts where most has been machined away. Individually posted about £8.00 and a batch of say 5 would be about £40.00 so not a lot in either way round.

£210.00 a set how ever many cables I order.
They have enough parts in stock to make up 5 pairs of cables and can order in some more parts from the USA.
So first come first served and I'll do a run of 5 sets with the others to follow allowing them three weeks or so to get the parts in from the USA for the cables.

I am waiting till the pre production ones are fitted before I move forward, middle part of next week, I don see there being any problems but you never know till it's done and it's easier to modify them before I order lots of cables as once made ...................

I'm still waiting for confirmation that they are stainless like I requested, but the price I got back from Midwest Control was ~$29 per cable, buying 10 of each. Quote is attached. Also, their catalog lists an input load of 40kg for this size cable- Bob, do you have a sense of whether that is enough? I know the cables you sourced are 90kg.

When I asked Mid West Controls the question they only did steel cables and the dimensions are different, the length from the bulkhead connector to the end of the cable is some 2" longer

You could be right about the stainless (they still haven't responded), but the lengths look the same to me. Felsted catalog (p4) lists 4.19" from center of bulkhead to end of sleeve, and 6.19" from center of bulkhead to end of cable at mid travel. That's for the 4 series, 2" travel. Those dimensions are 4.19" / 6.13" in the Midwest Control catalog (p24).

I was working off their standard cables which shows dimension as below

spot the mistake 3" travel opps! so you are most proabably right in with the lengths

The 6.19" is what I have worked with so anything out side of this dimension will mean the bits I make up will not fit, if Mid West cables are the correct length and you are happy with steel cables then that is up to you but I am sticking with the stainless steel option

As a side note the cables I get made up have a teflon liner which will help in the smooth operation and rated to 107 degree C, as they are well clear of any really hot bits they should never get above that.

I tried to get the high efficiency teflon version, but Midwest apparently don't offer it in the metric series (strangely). I'll update this thread when I get the final word on material. I could live with plated steel rather than stainless for myself in this climate, although I would prefer stainless. While these are cheaper, at the end of the day it's only a $60 difference altogether, so not really worth worrying about too much.

Just fitted SeveA's today and I'll let him comment on how he finds them whilst driving back home.
As for fitting them they are no harder than the originals, a pain to get out and pain to get the new ones but I knew that was always going to be the case.
One point worth making is to tie a piece of string or similar to the old ones as you remove them as it make feeding the new ones in easier.

The cable supplier has ordered more of the parts he needs to make the cables and they should be available week commencing the 13th June, idealy he would like to supply them in batches to 10 or more to maintain the discount level.
As it stands we are OK on the run as there are 14 cables so far (2 per car) but after that will need at least 5 cars to get the discount other wise the price goes up a little.

Will wait till we have a report back from Tannerman on the other set but it looks like we are in business.

The gear changing couldn't feel more positive, the vague feeling has gone

Not as bad as I thought it might be to fit these cables, two heads are better than one especially when one has done it before

Now I don't have that worry of standard cables and the short shift combo, although to be fair it has been like that for over a year.

Well the next set are fitted and working well, I'll let "Tannerman" post his coments.

Did have a little hicup the garage that fitted them did not check the position on the gear lever end and then struggled to get the gears at the other end but once this was pointed out they were removed adjusted and refitted.
In the future I will set the position of the gear lever end and lock the adjuster so it should not happen again.

I am now in a position to move forward with the rest of these on the list just need your monies to get the cables and rod ends on order.
Not sure how the progress is going on sourcing cables in the USA but I have 90% of the parts made to complete the cables so they can be sent less the cables and rod ends.
