Okay, i have now got the postage costs for these (by airmail):-

(1) single set = $37.00
(2) 2 sets = $54.00 ($27/set)
(3) 4 sets = $91.00 ($23/set)

I will be ordering 2 sets (myself and Dico) - if you want to include yourself in the delivery, let me know asap. I will be able to distribute at Donington, but if you want them before that, it may be easier to order direct. If you really twist my arm, I suppose i could post them on in the UK, but unsure how much it will cost until they get here and i weigh them.

Obviously, whatever way is chosen, it will be the usual lottery as to what (if any) duty & VAT is added by HM C&E (if individually ordered, or in pairs, then the cost is under the threashold for duty, but VAT is still liable - 4 may attract duty (2 1/2%), but the 'handling' costs are split 4 ways - it's YOUR choice

4 sets ordered for the UK crew (Dico, Whippit, Niall & Me)......

....there is a cunning plan which may get round the duty issue - I've given them to Geoff as a gift ('coz i'm nice like that) - and they're being shipped to Blair in Canada.....

....Geoff will be visiting Blair on his Colonial roadtrip, and will collect his own goods.....

...he will then post them to himself in the UK, at his own home address.....

....as far as i can tell, there shouldn't be any duty on sending second-hand car parts to yourself - 'coz obviously. they are second-hand as i've bought them and then given them away.

Not entirely sure it will work, but it's the best we could come up with, and won't be any more than if I'd ordered them direct from the manufacturer (well, maybe about $5 more, but worth the gamble!)

hope thats okay with you guys (PS - total paid out so far is $337CAD inc shipping to Blair - this works out at just shy of £219 with the current PayPal exchange rate - there will be the international shipping to add on, and maybe VAT on the goods and shipping - worst case scenario is about £80 a set all in, best case is £55 + shipping).
As stated previously, no need to send/offer money at this stage, lets wait until we have a final total figure and take it from there.

Well the bad news is that the cunning plan didn't entirely work, 'coz Smiffy let us all down by changing his holiday route........

.....that said, at least we can rely on Blair, who stepped up to the plate and posted the box on to me anyway.....

....it arrived this morning and i am now in receipt of 4 sets - and how nice and shiny they look sitting on the sofa, calling out softly to be bolted onto the car.....

Thanks to the ever reliable LEC network, my struts have now reached me in darkest Malvern!

Just had my bonnet struts fitted, they are working great and i think look good , he ended up fitting the bottom bracket over the hinge plate as i didnt fancy the bonnet line stuck up, cant see any probs fitting this way though? anyone else?

engine porn , I LIKE IT, I LIKE IT A LOT , i fitted my gas struts over the bracket for the same reason, i placed some sponge under the bracket just in case it it touched the clam,

Hi, I received my struts earlier in the week and have fitted the o/s brackets (but not yet the gas struts), however, as mentioned above, they leave the bonnet sitting proud when closed. If I remove the top bracket then the bonnet sits flush so tis must be the problem area!

I cannot figure out any way of altering the fitment to allow a flush fit or, for that matter, what is actually forcing the problem in the first place!

Any ideas?

Did you install the bottom end brackets over or under the existing hinge plate? If under then try installing it on top of the hinge plate. If you installed it on top of the hinge plate try adjusting the hood/bonnet positioning by adjusting the top hinge plates. In my installation the hood sits a barely noticeable amount higher than normal but its hardly worth being concerned about (in my case at least).

Thanks, I fitted both of the brackets on top of the existent hinge plates.

As mentioned with both fitted the bonnet sits proud but with the top bracket removed & the bottom bracket in situ all is flush and with the top bracket in situ & the bottom bracket removed all is flush

So it seems that the two brackets are fouling one another, but how I can't quite figure!
