Looks like F1 is moving to 1.6 turbo in 2013.

I havn't said this for a long time but what a race! :-D

Amazing drive by Jensen. The McClaren has been the fastest car for the last few races, finally they have something to show for it. 21st to 1st is incredible by any standard but in just the last 30 odd laps? Vettel made a mistake but JB would have had him on the straight being that much faster and able to use the DRS.

BBC coverage was excellent (can get it here thanks to some useful software)

Roll on the rest of the season.

Agree - a terrific race to watch, right to the very end.

Do you mean RBR? Hamilton had fast lap in Spain but Webber has clinched it almost every race this season.

BBC coverage was excellent

Fox did pretty darn good, even cutting into the Continental race back on Speed after the F1 race ended to show all of the after-race stuff like podium, press conference, etc. Thankfully I was watching live and kept recording show after show on Fox HD to get the whole race.

I believe he passed every other car ON TRACK during that race. That can't have been done for a very long time, if ever.

I've d/l the BBC show on torrent before. I prefer it to Speed's coverage (Bob Varsha annoys me).

I meant that they seem to have the most consistant race pace lately, look at JB in Monaco. They just need to improve the qauli.

I would love to know that as well. I remember Damon & MSC passing everyone but the top 3 in several races. There are probably more instances of that, but I cannot remember any driver passing everybody. A true world champion's drive.

I hope Martin Whitmarsh (even though he ducked the question on the BBC) has a word with Lewis. He is frustrated and needs to relax. JB has proved in the last 2 races that the car is good. Maybe he needs some R & R with Nicole. :D

Disappointing Brit GP. Well done Alonso but the truth behind Red Bull came out when Webber was told not to overtake. Christian Horner refused to answer the question about how many times this has been done to Webber but the body language said it all. How much did these orders influence the start of the race? It explains why Vettel got ahead really easily. :x

Why do drivers like Vettel & Schumacher pretend to the world that they are the best when in reality they have a team mate under orders to let them past or not to overtake them? :banghead:

I don't think you can read too much into the late-race team order from RBR. Making a deliberate poor start would be dangerous. Potentially throwing away both positions late on would be silly.
Who knows if there are really team orders? There are 2 members on here who build their chassis but neither have logged on for a long time.

Ferrari bring some updates & the rules get changed at the very last minute to play right into their hands. How convenient?

That race was great right down to last lap, would of been good to see Webber push for the pass sure but the TEAM comes 1st.

I feel bad for Button he probably should of come 3rd.

Sorry but this leaves a really bad taste in my mouth. What is the difference between this and Barrichello being told let Scummi past on the last lap in the Austrian GP 2002 (the reason why team orders like this were banned in the first place). Doesn't Vettel have enough points or can't the combined egos of Horner & Vettel take the fact that the 'golden boy' is not invincible? PS why couldn't he get past Lewis?

If this sort of thing happened in other sports, horse racing for example, the jockeys & owners would be facing a lengthy ban as well as legal action from the people who had bet on the race and been robbed of their (rightful) winnings.

Just when F1 was good again. :(

FIA did a U-turn regarding team orders for this season, allowing them again now after Ferrari's message of "Felipe, Fernando is faster than you...Do you understand" message last year being an obvious team order which they turned a blind eye to.
They've been nown to mkake things up as they go along. Just look at the blown diffuser fiasco on Saturday, 20 minutes before Silverstone qualifying! Why not ban team orders again...Even change the rules 10 laps before the end of the next race!

I think we all like watching Lewis & Jenson scrap it out on the track, knowing that it can end in a broken car or two.
I think McLaren are the only front-running team who genuinely let their drivers race. It reminds me of the days when Mansell & Piquet both drove for Williams.

May seem that way Ian, but I think just because its not really being tested. All drivers are aware that its bad form to actually take out their team mate - so it doesn't need team orders to say any more from laps 1 to 50. Last 10 laps of a race is when team orders are more likely - different strategies coming together and more certainty about who will or wont finish and where any remaining battles are being fought. At that stage the drivers might still want to go for it, but the team wont be so keen. How many times have we seen Jens and Lewis fighting it out over the last few laps? Not many that I can recall. Ron Dennis certainly gave Coulthard some tough team orders in the Hakkinan days....

I agree it's always happened in one form or another and for sure McClaren (with the possible exception of Sauber, although often due to Kobayashi and not planned :) ) are about the only team that have (nearly) always allowed their drivers to race.

What irritates the most is that we are in the situation of having another dominent driver as per the Scummi years (which lost F1 so many fans and stretched the patience of the diehards) who needs a team mate who is told to back off and let him take the glory. If these guys are so good, why do they need this? Scummi's reputation is tarnished by allegations of cheating & having a team mate who would let him win. Vettel is a very good driver and I would hate for the sake of himself, Red Bull & F1 to see him going the same way.

Are Red Bull (as a huge international company) really prepared to take the kind of negative press that Ferrari took over the incidents in Austria & the US among others? I don't think so but this seems to be the path that they are being led along.

Happy to say I've watched every race with my little girl in my arms, quite a good tradition. But I know I'm not getting enough sleep as I deleted the qualifier after Q2, not realizing I hadn't watched Q3. (I kept wondering why so many cars were parked with a few minutes to go...)

I thought it was a pretty good race. Shame about Button, his luck has really run out these days. Hamilton always seems to be in a bitching match with the other end of the radio. Don't want to piss that guy off. But he earned the win, I was happy to see him take it away from Alonso a few times.
