OK it's booked.

For now I've reserved a table for 40 sitting at 8pm, but we'll be able to tweak the numbers nearer the time. All I'd say to anyone who hasn’t put their name/s down yet is don't count on being able to squeeze in at the last minute, because it vastly increases your chances of disappointment (as well as honking-off the Melbourne Arms staff by making them run round preparing extra).

If interested just copy the list and add yourself/selves to the bottom of it, if you haven't already done so. When it gets above 40 then I may start getting a bit twitchy, but we're fine for the moment - the more the merrier! Cost is £20 per head, but anyone who has ever been before will tell you that it's a great meal and atmosphere and well worth it. Also this year your £20 gets you an extra little surprise, which could be most fortuitous...

One previous year there was a bit of a problem with numbers. A few dropped out without removing themselves from the list, which left us rather short on the night. The restaurant had prepared almost 50% more meals than were actually needed, but fortunately they didn't demand that we pay the full amount. Because of this, please could everyone put down a tenner per head deposit? It will only leave £10 plus beer to pay for on the night, and will give much more confidence in the final tally.

I'd rather not do PayPal cos I'd get stiffed for charges to draw it all out again. So if everyone could send a cheque to the address below it would be much appreciated, and I'll bring along all the cash on the night. I can accept direct bank transfers if you’d rather pay that way, but please PM me for the details as I’d rather not stick that kind of info on an open forum!

They do other stuff too, probably best to take a look at their website. Then let me know if he's found something he likes the look of. If so we'll need to add him to the list and cover the place with a deposit. But as long as we give them plenty of notice it should be fine and I'm sure we can work something out.

Sorry Gareth - we were at Waddington at the weekend being strafed by Tornados and bombed by the Vulcan. The daily driver isn't exactly a classic anyway, so you'll just have to put it in the post!
