Ypres Lotus day 2012

Postby HJ2 » Sun 20.11.2011, 19:41

Registration is open for 2012!

http://www.ypreslotusday.be/pages/yld-2012-english.php

The biggest Lotus event in Belgium with guests from all over Europe. Prepare for a drive with lotus-minded friends, accompanied with good gastronomic treats as you can only find them in Belgium. All based in the beautiful scenery of the famous historic Ypres rally.

Are you in for a relaxed drive and have a co-pilot who is new or not so familiar to road books, that fits perfectly, as you can drive your own speed and the road book usually is perfect and easy to read, also for new navigators. Also the parcours is perfect for the more experienced drivers and navigators to ensure a day with lots of fun around the twisties :D

If anybody wants to combine the trip with a visit to Delft, the Netherlands, I can arrange a (one) double bed & diner for LEC only, but in return you'll have to supply some good stories over diner

I'm Sure Xiphias will show up on this tread soon, and supply all further info needed, as he is a member of the organisation. For the mean time, you'll have to do with me

I hope to see a lot of LEC Elan's in 2012. Ypres is an excellent parcours to show those Elises the back of your Elan :bananasex:

Just back from the 2012 Ypres Lotus Day-what a trip! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

I will post a fuller account and pictures later but wanted to express our thanks to Pascal Frederick & Dirk for putting on such a well organised, friendly & thrilling day!
We covered aprox 600 miles in 4 days -motorways-single track country roads and city centre Belgium pave and our Élan did not miss a beat! :D
Highlights? Eurotunnel-so simple
The boost gauge seemingly jammed to the top around the lanes as we battled to match the pace of far newer Elise & Exige's
Deciding the a brake upgrade is mandatory after seeing well into three figures on the speedo and then farm machinery pulling out in front of us
Making new friends from SELOC (yo know who you are!)
Driving 600 miles all top down and when we got home and opened our front door still laughing I swear our old girl was quietly chuckling to herself as well !

There are clips on YouTube already

Yes I hope so . It depends on the bl@€dy ferries at this time of year  We were all set to come to Castle Coombe but had to leave it to the last minute and to get over at a reasonable time the fare was about £80! They have gone to the Easy Jet model where nearer the time of departure the more expensive the fare.
Anyway hope to see you there
