Window switch "looks" like a Saturn L sedan

Postby andrewp » Tue 29.11.2011, 04:23

I may be wholly wrong on this . . . so tread with mild caution.

While at a local auto wreckers on the weekend, I noticed that the rear door power window switches on a 2000 Saturn L sedan look alarmingly similar to the ones on the Elan. On the Saturn, these switches sit in the door grab rail. I do not know if all 2000 L's came with power windows.

Switch similarity is in terms of overall shape/size and button pad design. For certain, the Saturn switch has white silk-screened graphics that the Elan switch does not have. Could this be a GM-common thing? Hoping that someone can confirm or deny this for me.

Compatibility with the existing wiring harness connector does not look promising as the Saturn switch harness didn't look like it could be removed by pressing a tab. Problem is I do not have an M100 to easily check with.

Yes, eBay item # 250753311328 is the same switch as the one I collected from a Saturn L sedan.

Cool! Have you been able to verify the size and connector?

Visited the auto wreckers . . . again.

The 1997-2001 Cadillac Catera has rear door power window switches that look -at least to me- to be pretty much perfect. Lots of Cateras lie in wreckers now. According to Wiki, the Catera is a re-badged Opel Omega (should you be on the other side of the Atlantic). Unlike the Saturn L's, there is no white icon screened onto the Catera's switch. The satin black colour looked pretty much ideal, too.

I no longer own an Elan so, perhaps, some other owner can confirm this speculative fit.

This isn't the same switch as ours. Its the same as those found on several vauxhall cars and its smaller than ours with a different wiring harness although the same basic wiring and pinouts. I've adapted two of these and installed them in my car to give it a more updated appearance. They seem to work well
