Wayne/John,

I also want to add thanks for the way this project has been run - regular updates and giving all options as they arise, can't ask for any more than that

PS, I know it's a bit previous, but if you need a volunteer to handle the UK onward shipping, I'll happily accept the package here and move them on.
Dave

Just the one now, but this one's mine! - and it will be finished eventually..... - but also temporary custodian of a project until it is finished enough for Angie to drive it

...oh, and a 2006 Freelander destined for the jungles of The Gambia - 4500 miles across roads, desert and tracks - what could possibly go wrong?

Thanks Dave. It certainly makes sense to keep it down to one or two central shipping points. Currently there are 30 UK confirmed and 20 US confirmed so it will be the question if it is 2 shipments from China or one and a forward to the other shipping point is more affordable. Duty and VAT will all figure into the equation and we will try to keep things as low cost as possible and still not break any laws. We can ship single boxed "gifts" from the US to UK for a reasonable cost that might be better than a large package that will have VAT added.

We appreciate the compliments and really want to do right for everyone.

I think we should all be going for dark grey.

I have compared the colour of my S2 escutcheon (appears to me to be dark grey and match the handles quite well), a slightly faded escutcheon from Wayne (definitely a brown tinge but not as bad as the window switches), the original brown (yours are too, believe me and if you don't, look at the Wiki) window switch and also my very dark grey window switch replacement.

Would it be possible for one of you to confirm the colour availability? I saw a few people "specifying" their colour preference (I think I even saw carbon fibre) and I was under the impression that you would be having these made in one colour only. I'm just thinking that definitively stating that only one colour will be offered (or otherwise) might be in order just to be safe.

'Cause if hot pink is an option I might give it some thought............ :-D

In an effort to best provide what people want, there are TWO options:

Option 1 is the Dark Brown that was used on the ORIGINAL Lotus S1/SE

Option 2 is the Dark Gray (Grey) that was used on the KIA Elan and probably the S2.

The Dark Gray better matches the door cards on the SE, so most are selecting that colour.

If there was enough demand, we would do a second run for the other option, but it would have to be a fair amount of requests as the set-up costs are fairly dear.

So, the ONLY choices are the brownish S1/SE version or the dark gray S2/KIA version.

Thus far, NOBODY has opted for the brownish SE version, so that doesn't appear to be a promising option.

We will assume that anyone that doesn't specify a colour option is really asking for the Dark Gray variant.

Carbon fibre is not on our list of options although it was mentioned earlier in this listing and we don't have the right to remove anyone that has requested it.

I trust this clarifies the situation?

So is the Brown colour we're talking about the colour of the one's in Wayne's first post, or another brown? Mine aren't quite as dark as the door cards, but basically same as the door handles - I'm certain I want nothing the same colour as the ones in Wayne's first post! :smt078

If that means I'm in for Dark Grey then put me down for that for both sets please.

Excellent work on getting all this sorted, and lucky for me that you didn't decide to do it earlier!

The pictures are all in this listing. It has grown quite long because the list of participants is long.

See here: viewtopic.php?f=39&t=19744&start=40#p260994 for some pictures that show the two colours.

We are offering the same colour as a Brand NEW, non sun damaged, Lotus escutcheon, but since you are the only one asking, I have to be candid and tell you that the extra cost to make one set a unique colour will be upsettingly high. If we get around 25 people wanting the original brown tinted parts, we will enquire as to the cost to do two runs and advise everyone at that time.

The other colour - the one most preferred right now - that we are offering is that of the NEW KIA escutcheon that I managed to get a few months ago. It appears to be the same colour as the escutcheon used in the S2, so even Bugatti realized the brown colour was not such a good idea.

We don't want to confuse anyone. We want to make this as cost effective as possible and we will explore the cost for any colour that someone wants to pursue. I can assure you that unless we get a large quantity order, the individual cost will be much higher than the cost of the preferred colour from this list.

Re: New door handle escutcheons

Postby wayne » Mon 23.04.2012, 20:02

Slow progress this week. Unfortunatly i've been very busy in work and I had asked John to look after things here... I can see he has been busy too..

Anyway Johns Kia part will be on it's way first thing in the morning. I will try to see if the pantone colour they quote is the same as Johns. It could be usefull to know should we have to get any more made in the future. (or any other matching part).

I'll have to see if I can get a pantone colour for that "hot pink" and maybe get seat covers to match :-D

I'm not expecting to hear anything back for a week or 2 but Will post some pics when they finally arrive. Hopefully they will match the door cards.

I looked at mine in daylight and realised just how brown they were - I definitely want dark grey!

I think my door handles are darker than the escutcheons but not as dark as the door card, but since the handles are fine I've no need to change them. the escutcheon's are cracked like everybody else's it seems.
