ohhhh this is tempting, im off work next week and i havent taken Lily out properly for AGES, poor thing is filthy dirty!

Well, according to the West Mids thread, they will be arriving at our pub for 2000hrs (parking at the back, apparently!).

As such, and going purely from Google maps, i would expect that it would take me 1 hr 42. (possibly not quite that long )

So if Geoff doesn't want me to go to his house, I suggest something like meeting him at Michelwood Northbound services, to leave there by 1900 (google says 64 minutes to the pub).

Thus I would plan on leaving Weston at 1800ish to have time for a coffee at Michelwood.

Lots of parts exchanged... mainly rear disc shaped, stainless, springy and plastic but I've still got Ronee's cigar lighter and washer pump - where were you? Shame I didn't take David's clutch as Rip would have taken it off my hands. Pinky, by any chance did you catch the list that flew out the car? Oh, and don't forget sort Tony out and I'll bring your hardtop catches down in August.

I concur, plenty of boot and bonnet opening and parts moving around cars. Anyone watching must have been wondering what was goin on

Good night last night I enjoyed meeting everybody and suspect its my round next time!

The only slight downside was driving home sandwiched between Dave & Geoff, the former who seemed to have his fog lamps on and the latter who appears to have small supernova instead of dipped beams - what are you guys on? I put my foot down to pass Dave on the motorway but your two cars were the brightest, unbelievable I know, on the road by some measure so Dave killed my eyes at both ends!

In my defence, I was looking out of the big window whilst driving so didn't know the rear fogs were on until Geoff overtook me and flashed his (must have caught the switch whilst operating the very important unit just by it )

I too was blinded by the lights of Geoff - I assumed it was just poor adjustment by the monkey who fitted the stainless springs on his headlights (and then remembered that if it was anything like all other group buys they would remain in his loft for 5 years before seeing the light of day).

As for my own - the MOT man says they're spot on - perhaps its a design feature of the elan, I don't normally drive in convoy at night, and the last time was when we took both cars to Norwich and I thought the red car had high beam adjustment......

.....which leads me to the conclusion that they are possibly set right, but sitting so low down in another elan it appears high, but you wouldn't notice in a 'normal' car

Anyway, got home at midnight, didn't need to have the heater on at all - roof down, shorts, tee shirt and flip-flops - i did have a hat on though, but it proves the worth of a windbreak when i saw Geoff with his fleece, scarf and wooley hat on the hottest day I can remember so far this year

I thought I'd go faster getting home as the car would be lighter having distributed some escutcheons - but i seem to have inherrited some stainless stuff to post out, and a pair of rear disks to go to Yorkshire (perhaps I should have dropped them into Iains car when he wasn't looking).


All in all a good local night out which was invaded by others - even a special mention for Duncan who drove all the way to the venue (probably about 5 miles!) in his daily driver, not the elan (but as it's a beautiful black Aston I'll forgive him)

Funny you mention headlamp adjustment. My NS one looked a little low so I spent all of 60 seconds adjusting them after I stopped for fuel.

Twas a tad bright, see the pic ('scuse my head but I was looking through the big window, lol !)

I cleaned the inside of my lights when I had them out and it made a hell of a difference. When I replaced the fasteners, I measured the height of the adjust screws and reset them to the correct height. When I replaced the springs on the offside lights, I forgot!
