FIA/ACO WEC Silverstone 6 hour race

Any sportscar endurance fans going to Siverstone for the 6 hour race on the 26th August. (Best race at the 'home of motorsport' imo.) Cant decide about two nights camping or one in a Travelodge? Judging by comments on the classic (which I couldnt attend on the Sunday thanks to thieves trashing our home whilst we were away for a week at a sailing event) there doesnt actually seem to be any facilities there?

Anyway the GT and the LMP2 classes promises to be another fascinating struggle. Perhaps the lone Toyota will be challenging the two Audi's as well. With 6 hours of racing a chance to see the race from every corner. Essential to bring a radio to actually hear the commentary. Cant wait!

Facilities at Whittlebury were very good at the weekend. Would highly recommend and pitch by the lakesdide area, beautiful views.

Agreed, campsite was very beautiful and close to the track.

Could you please post a link up as so far that w/e event, seems to be clear for me and sounds good!

Shame you couldn't make the Classics, hope you catch the scrotes

In previous years I think that the other camp sites have not been open, however this event was held in late September then and not August as it is this year. Compared to the Classic or the F1 bore (oops, sorry my predjudice) the crowd is relatively small, maybe 20000 at the race, so I need to check whether or not the Silverstone campsite is the only option?

I reckon also no more than 20,000 at last weeks Classic so loads of space for camping and spectating.

Think the hideous weaher kept many people away from the Classics.

Events will probably pick up again now we have some sunshine!

Went onto Whittlebury on line booking and this event is not on the itinery so it has to be Silverstone's own site I guess, which will probably be okay. Will ring them and check on facilities
