Shelsley Walsh 18-19th Aug (Lotus Elan 50)

Postby Wollah » Fri 27.04.2012, 11:07

I found this today and thought it might be interesting to celebrate the original Lotus Elan's 50th Birthday.
Its just down the road from me so I plan to go and thought it would be great if we could get a few M100's lined up in the car park if anyone else is interested.

Looks good although I have to sayI had been put off from going there again.

LEC had a fab time there a few years ago and Sy allowed us to camp in his field. I recall it beoing in the middle of no-where, a low key affair, great fun and quite cheap. The M200 featured a run too!

Popped past there while in the area around 3 years ago to see if anything was on and as pleased to see there was.

But, the entry fee was unacceptable! Couldn't recall what it was now but has left a mental scar against the place.

If entry is reasonable, I'll consider.

Updated. Checked out the website £10 advance £12 on gate. So I'd be in! :)

So who is coming. There will be a dedicated parking area for Lotus cars and a 20% discount on your tickets (£12) if we meet and convoy in.

Clashes with the Lotus Festival at Brands Hatch so a no-go for me.

Looking forward to your pictures! :D

It is a bit late to organise a meet and drive now. I suggest we just get together in the Lotus dedicated car park

Had a good time yesterday, as did loads of others (huge crowds!). Was a shame to see a motorsport (220bhp K-series) Elise get wrecked but at least the driver seemed okay (probably on Youtube by now). Good to meet Geoff, Paul and a couple of people in a yellow S2(?) who's names I didn't catch but who were interested in my car's aerial - a short aluminium bee-sting that was on the car when I bought it so I've no idea where it came from. I don't think it improves the reception though, it's fairly lousy. There were in fact loads of Elan M100's there, many more than you would expect given the small numbers of cars made - it must be because it's the most reliable Lotus ever!
