You should be able to make that back on the turbo & wishbones (assuming the latter have not been bent)
Good job your hard top was not fitted. That would have probably been damaged too.

12% sounds very fair to me. Keep those rear wishbones until you know if you're buying an S2 or not. Front wishbones- worth a few quid. Maybe keep them too. Let the hoarding begin :D

Many happy memories of trips to Germany (I remember getting lost in Bruge on our way back when Chris made a sudden diversion. Me and Murph watched helpessly as you both disappeard into the distance  ), France etc (Did you do the Scotland trip in Blipi? Give us some pics of happier times Stef :-)

All seems OK for me to buy if I desire to.

Don't mind vulchers circling at all as it's good that Blipi and donor other Elans to live longer! Just bring yer spanners

Will dig out some Blipi snaps for a vigil when I get some time to, yup, deffo a hoard of great memories, some a little more daunting like getting lost in Bruge!

Have compiled a list of the parts I can think of and that should be saveable:

Rear light clusters x 2
Coil packs
Brand new battery as of this month (Nov)
Wilwood brakes, front
Rear brakes hub converter with new discs
Rear newly refurbished brake calipers done 11 months ago (Dec/Jan 2011/2012)
Wishbones virtually all replaced very recently and LEC stainless options fitted can't remember which ones but some done 11 months ago others in the past 3 years
Turbo refurbed as new in June this year
Front light pods
Passenger mirror
Hood with frame in very good condition
Headlamp motors x 2
Replaced gear cables, metal that shouldn't break
ECU
Chip

Please add to list and suggest sensiblle prices. I have prices in mind but market speaks and I'm not looking to sell expensive so I'm sure reasonable offers will be accepted, espeially if spanner hands are loaned! :D

Ok, I'll be the 1st vulture!

If you have red carpets then I should like the B post trims (both sides). I bought a complete red set off DVB last year and these were the only missing pieces!

If you are replacing Blipi then you might want to keep the good parts for your new ca, eg the brakes, turbo, chip etc, and sell on the standard parts of your new car as they are replaced. For example you could say 'come and take my oem front brakes (at a price) from my new car as long as you transfer the equivalent old Blipi brakes for me' - worth a try!

:-D Straight in for the kill!

Not sure if the carpet will be possible from the drivers side, and can I admit to a Elan dimwit on what B posts are??! If you can see them on the pics then you're welcome to them!

Turbo I dd feel would have a lot of interest, I MAY keep it but if the new car is fine I see no need in hanging onto one. Watch this space, you have first dibs! :D

Spoken to recovery chap, £50 to transport her to my place.

The door fits between the posts: A at the front & B at the back.

I'm sure you can get a lot more spares if you try.

I guess your wheels are sellable too (unless you want these for spares)?
Switches etc (windows, hazards etc) come in useful too.
I would love a lockable glovebox (not that I wouod ever lock it - I just want one which works)
Rear plate plinth (isn't yours the covered type?)
Engine & gearbox?

Stef

Would like first call on Wilwood front brakes and pipes please. Quite happy to spanner. I only live down the road nr Coventry so distance no issue.

But don't understand why you don't keep them for the replacement car, unless you are buying one already converted. Same thing applies to all the other goody mods you had.

Hope you're feeling a bit better about it all now.

Availability will depend greatly on what Elan I get.

Considering I shall intend to get another long life with one, there shall be some parts I'm likely to need.

Once I start my new Elan relationship and suss condition etc, a difinitive list will be made :) Good to hear suggetons on what to salvage and interest though! Thanks!

Hope you got my PM about the rear hubs and brakes yesterday. I would guess you'll want to take them over to a new Elan as its a pretty rare thing these days I guess. Condolences once more and good luck on the hunt. If you want the silver one in Glasgow looked at let me know, I am through there quite a lot and although 3 months ago I wouldn't have had a clue, now I reckon I could do a pretty good check over an Elan!

Thanks Jeemy

If my next car is already converted then Blipi's old ones will be free, so no harm getting your dibs in! :-D

Then there is transporting it (should still roll), spannering parts off (somethng I cannot do), declaring paperwork that the car will be disposed of (not sure on what and costs involved there) and getting rid of the un-useable remains.

More to follow as n when!

Hi Stef, so sorry to hear about Blipi, i know what that car meant to you , but as said before, main thing is your alright !.To be honest, my advice to you is, if your gonna get another elan, & presuming your not desperate for the money, keep all the spares you can, there old cars now, & spares are getting harder to find, especially plastic trim parts. If you havn't got a garage to put them in, try the loft. Anyway, best of luck finding a new car !

Hi Stef, i,m hoping you could be my saviour for a bunch of daft bits that would not be obviously sell-able, but for me - presently restoring an S2, will be very usefull
unfortunately - given my location ( Huntly - Aberdeenshire) although it would be great to help out pulling the car apart - a good day out followed up with a few beer's shared by like minded individuals = a dam't good excuse for cracker of a weekend - but alas i,m to far away - anyway - my growing list of needies are
Throttle cable
airfilter box
oil cooler + hoses + the fibreglass oil cooler mounting box
power steering pipes / hoses
Ex manifold
chip
the foam shroud that links the cabin vent inlet on the bulkhead to the clam shell ( mice have eaten mine )
the lower radiator support frame ( forsure it will have rust, but if it's otherwise solid and recoverable)
The pair of engine mount dampers ( torque and shack dampers)
Rear suspension units ( again assumed there is a bit of rust but hopefully they are more solid than mine)
Front springs
If you have a SS ex pipe in 2.25 or 2.5" ?
Ignition leads and coil pack - if they are replaced items versus original
Rear anti roll bar and hangers ( again comparison of my rust versus your's which I suspect will be in much better condition )

and the list will grow, but hopefully this helps to identify that, given there is now a growing market for folks restoring these car's - you will find a home for just about every servicable part off the car - not just the obvious big seller items
