Mark, that is a good car, and i wasn't trying to say that it isn't a great buy for someone - i was merely pointing out a car on ebay (as per the thread title

) and stating that if anyone was thinking of coming to WSM to look at it, there are 2 much nicer ones for sale in the town at the moment

Just the one now, but this one's mine! - and it will be finished eventually..... - but also temporary custodian of a project until it is finished enough for Angie to drive it
...oh, and a 2006 Freelander destined for the jungles of The Gambia - 4500 miles across roads, desert and tracks - what could possibly go wrong?

rambo tis far to say , that the clemo N/A has gone the way of the sale. but its this one .....
viewtopic.php?f=49&t=21382 so very very tempted to buy it back ..
A car that had been garaged all its life ...
inner sills / rear inner box rear (under speaker) sills... this is the most important thing when buying these days.
This is why buying a car from a LEC member is important ..
be it mine , dapinkys or any other LEC'er ... dry condition is everything..

Can't argue with that, Dave. No point in polishing the dashboard if the sills are shot!
Your old NA has seldom seen the rain since I've owned it, and I've never used it on salty roads. And it sleeps in a garage, even though it means being 30 miles away from where I live.
I'll be very sorry to see it go.
Serial Elan owner: 2002 - 2012. I may yet buy another one...

not trying to give it a "sales push" but what i didn't do to that car ...including a full (and i mean beyond requirement) engine rebuild . then the lotus only grey spec " original lotus trim tech" hood. later gear links, kia's rears ,boot release, aldl inboard switch . .. never ever went out in the rain ... and the DM took it on and did the bits i wanted to do ... (exhaust and others) ... i will buy it back BUT not untill i have made room in my garage AND got rid of 2 cars ... now have 5 cars and a tipper on drive.

Looks good, but am intreagued about the additional comments!
Can't put my finger on it but not entirely confident, but hey, I'm a suspicious bugger at best, so maybe worth a look although its a long way from you, and me otherwise I'd have a poke around for you!

Precisely how I feel too, something doesn't quite add up, but since I do like the Purple spec I'm keen to consider. You're not the only suspicious person!
If there is someone local who can do a quick squizz before I road trip it would be fab! My folks are in creepy Crawley and I'll no doubt have to be down for the silly season so could view then if not before. And if still available.

I don't blame either of you for being suspicious.

Doesn't really match up does it? Also his attitude absolutely stinks. I've always worked on the basis that I assess the owner as much as the car. I'm afraid that he would score a zero with me.

A kind LECer has volunteered to look at it and I've emaled the seller.
If it all seems good, then regardless of the eedjit selling, it maybe worth considering. Not holding high hopes sadly.

What's the betting the V5, service documents etc aren't to hand. They'll be with the ladies son who is in the army in deepest Germany and currently on manoeuvres and uncontactable for the forseeable future ...

Having previously been swindled on EBay I am deeply suspicious

Anyone know of this car at Key West Autos in Birkenhead?
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1990-LOTUS-EL ... 4abb3bb8e2Seems a little too cheap.
Would be interested in any info and if someone local could do a quick view for me.
Thanks!

A cheap car but reading between the lines it's been an insurance write off and the condition doesn't look too clever either.
