Wow Norman, looks like you have a mega project on hand!

Will see what can be rescued (may depend on volunteer spannerhand abilities too) Who fancies some close-to-crimbo wreck spannering and mulled wine adventures??!

Guess we could poss meet at an event for the parts or courrier can be sorted. Lets get your baby fixed up! :D

PaulP - Yep, you know I loved little Blipi and used/abused her with much merryment!

Parts I keep will be considered against what the new car has / will need soon. Got bags of storage space (double garage, double size shed and of course loft space!) Hopefully many I shall make available to those who have more immediate needs. From death comes life! :-)

When my 1st Elan #886 was destroyed I cried :(
I felt much better when I learned more than 10 Elan's shared her parts. :-D

always wanted to build a kit car - never realised I had to take one apart first to find out how to do it :D
have fun with the strip down - might be worth doing an alignment check before you take too much off the car to get an idea on whether your chassis and wishbones are straight

Stef,
Sorry to hear about Blipi (got the word from Paul P). She doesn't look good in the pic at all. Good job you weren't sat in her at the time.

Will follow this thread for news of the replacement !

Update

Looks like I'll get Blipi back home for around £1k and within a couple of weeks.

I believe she still rolls.

What I would like is some help on delivery getting her in garage and then start on spannering. Ideally I'd like her dismanled ASAP so I can get my garage back.

So, have had some kind offers so far, who is likely to be free over the next few weekends and happy to lend some help? :-)

I'm in Kettering, Northants. Obviously address can be PM'd.

Thanks! :D

Stef

Would love to help, but am away skiing from 15th to 22nd then Xmas takes over. May be able to help post Xmas, even an odd day in the week as I am retired from real jobs.

Presume at this stage the spannering is just to get car stripped down and stored away to create space for a new one?

Thanks

Rip - That is the weekend I hope to get her over, if not before!

My garage is double length so hope to dismantle and stack parts in the back of the garage and in my shed. Sensitive parts could always be stored in house.

Knowledge on what the parts are and labelling will of course be essenial too! :D

No idea how long it will take in all.

Will keep updated on here and open invite to you all!

Sorry to hear your news Stef- fond memories of B and the fly encrusted bonnett. At least ur OK. The pains of my passenger with several broken ribs when I had my head on in 2006 are still there.
Hope to hear you have another Elan soon.

One of the best to visit IMO.

Always have an Abelour 10 for real easy drinking and lucky guests I wish to introduce whisky to!

Abundah I'm running short on and I still have the hand bottled sherry cask I bottled at the distillary to drink! Tempting...

You're very lucky up there!

Although, please visit the English Whisky Distillary in Norfolk if you can. Fab youngster! :D

GOOD NEWS! :D

Settlement has been arranged!

So, this weekend I'm looking to recruit spanner hands and drinking buddies! :-D

If all goes according to plan, which oddly it does look so, I shall get her delivered into my garage as she does still roll of a fashion.

My garage isn't that wide but perhaps better than modern boxes and I have one jack and 6 breeze blocks te stand her on. There is lighting of course.

I'm based in Burton Latimer just South of Kettering and have a spare room, downstairs sofa bed, large sofa with fold down arms and a roll mat for those wishing to drink and stay over.

Initially I wish to take apart as much as poss, list and store parts and then compile what's available once I've chosen my next Elan (hopefully next few weeks)

RIP I know is around and willing and Shaun I believe is also.

The more the merrier!

Thank you

Oh, and those who are pure petrol heads and prefer not to drink beer/wine, please bring a petrol can as Blipi had a full tank before I set off that morning! Tube and a willing sucker will also be required

Are there any tools in particular you would find useful, Stef?
Sounds like Axle stands would be welcome.
Socket Set?
Twist Ratchet?

I'm a typical girl with an odd set of a couple of screwdrivers and Allan keys and that's about it :?

So good point. Tools will need to be brought also!!! And additional stands and anything else deemed useful too :D

Thanks!

You may want to consider something to put the engine on, you don't want it sat diectly on the sump as sumps are getting rare
