Correct, forum seems in the doldrums at the moment. I'll probably just be going up for the Saturday. I wonder how the convoy will be this year?

The matter of 'lack of thread' has been raised between the Mods, however, none of us have the power to add new Topic headings, so we need an Admin to do it.

And before anyone complains about that, I'll just say that Sy has tried and been unsucessful at this stage, so we're waiting on Smiffy


Anyway, to try and put some info out there, as stated, the dates are the weekend of April 20th/21st, and LEC will be in attendance at the show, as usual.

Nowt has been said about any of the 'usual' activities, but I think it's fair to say that I will be camping for the weekend at the same site we used last time (actually part of the venue), and I wouldn't be surprised to see a few others there....

I will also be going for a curry on the Friday evening (hopefully not on my own), joining a convoy from the usual start point (consisting of one Pac Blue at this stage, but open to others ), and as for the Saturday evening, well, the BBQ we had last time was quite a giggle, with added entertainment

That's brave. The last Donington was in August & this was camping & BBQ friendly. April has a justified reputation for wet weather & last year I got truly soaked camping in Skegness
Even at Malvern in 2010 (an unusually dry & warm weekend for April), I heard descriptions of ice on the inside of tents
I may do the Travelodge stopover but I'll probably leave it too late to get a good deal & end up driving there in the morning. I usually enjoy the M1 convoy too.

Don't worry, Mark. I'm sure plenty of us will be there (even those who don't take their Elan...or go in to the festival itself because they are too tight to pay the entrance fee ).

Me an Kim will be there for at least a day of it, may come down Sat aft after work then camp and do the show on the Sunday... I then get all the camping action , beers, and the show.

your welcome to the camping ffs you must be mad even considering it imo. Rip we'll do the convoy as usual, starts off chaotic but somehow gets together by the time we pull off to Dony. What's happening about the stand this year? has the pitch been booked, where is the stand? Where's Nige to organise all of this, i would do it but i've got a bad leg.

I'm a newbie and never been to donington but interested in going. Can anyone fill me in on a few more details??

I'm in Hertfordshire 5 miles from M1 jct10 so quite liking the sound if an M1 convoy.

Nobody did because there was no festival last year

Paul: It is a 2-day festival. The festival itself is little more than a parts fair with a few club stands. There is usually a track day involved for those who want to take part (this is a proper track day) Donington is the only track in the country with an exhibition centre, which is why the event is held there (Another advantage being that it is about as close as possible to the centre of England).
If you want to meet other LEC members, Saturday is the day to go. A curry is usually organised for the Friday night. If you don;t fancy that, then Chris is organising a convoy up the M1. This has always been carefully arranged to grow in size when passing junctions without having to stop.
At around 9am, Elans gather at Donington services. This is the start of the main convoy to the track.
We spend the day buying/selling parts from each other & fixing some faults.
For those still around in the evening, there is another meal somewhere else.

For me the best bits are the convoys, meeting old friends & making new ones.

Dave, was that the same price for both nights? It's currently showing 19 for Friday, and 22 for Saturday.

(for anyone who isn't aware, Travelodge have an 'allocation schedule' policy - the more it gets interest or bookings, the more the price goes up - so if you want to stay here, then NOW is the time to book - NB to those who it may affect, there is no bar at this hotel, but it's one of the better TL's I've used)

My memory loss due to age has been repaired, and if Nick says it was icy on the inside of the tent last time, thats good enough for me - I'm in the Lodge

(besides, at the price i've just paid, i can always camp out at the circuit anyway if it's a hot one!!!!)

Sounds awesome! Count me in. Definitely for the convoy, possibly staying over but I might struggle to get more than a one day pass out...wife and 3 young kids. I'd also love to get my car in the track but is that only likely if I do 2 days?
