It matches the picture of an ashtray that appeared a few years back so I reckon it must have passed under one of the Manchester United's arses. :D

Guys and Gals, new to the forum and looking at getting into the Lotus scene, have come across this and wondered if anyone had any history on the car, sounds interesting, high mileage I know but having been on this forum a few times in the past few months that doesn't seem to phase Elan M100 owners to much providing the car has been well looked after and this one does seem to tick that box.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lotus-Elan-1- ... 6086362%26

Prices do seem to vary a little so finding it hard to find that right car which will be a weekend car for me and my son to share along with our Classic Mini's

Anyone any thoughts on this one? Ends in a couple of days..

Wont be able to view it because of its location. Notice its s2 450 so might be on our register somewhere. Maybe someone knows its history

Three worthy of mention at the moment......

Best described as the good, the bad and the ugly.....

this one MUST be good, 'coz it's got a 3 litre engine (even if it looks a tad worn, and is up for £5k).

this one has to be 'bad' purely because we all know who was the previous owner, and his description of the damage caused was substantially more than the 'easy fix' described in this missleading advert (and I know who's version of events I'd believe....)

Which brings us on to THE UGLY....
No doubt it would have been okay if stored properly - it hasn't been! - can you believe someone has bid over £800 so far? (DVB no doubt). Personally, I can't see a lot on it worth the hassle (rear lights and wheels look okay, the rest is a gamble, and the interior must be a really nice place to be  )
Dave

Just the one now, but this one's mine! - and it will be finished eventually..... - but also temporary custodian of a project until it is finished enough for Angie to drive it

...oh, and a 2006 Freelander destined for the jungles of The Gambia - 4500 miles across roads, desert and tracks - what could possibly go wrong?

That's as maybe, but it'll be interesting to see what it goes for, if it is as honest as it sounds!

Autocar Press Car was G396 KEX - I just looked at my copy of the Autocar mag that all the Lotus emplyees got for free to celebrate the Elan Press release. Thats where the infamous statment " who was the clot who put the clock where it cant be seen by the driver unless you indicate right"
It was not me but we all know who it was who did the interior styling... I think he went on to MUCH grander projects.

Sad but true I still have it along with a copy of the "Elan Story" and the Press Release photo for the Motor Show debut that was not G245 MEX either.
I have a feeling the G245 MEX might have been MJK's car.
