My 2 cents anyway....

Piper downpipe, Piper 2 1/4 inch exhaust, wastegate ported to 20 - 21mm, Bosch O2 sensor, Everest chip.
Maybe I am not driving her hard enoughbut before I ported the wastegate and fitted the chip, she would overboost very easily.
I really want to get this car on a rolling road, ideally with someone who knows about Lotus. It may just be that the CAS needs to be adjusted (as has been documented earlier in this thread by Rip) to bring out the best in the chip & the exhaust package.
So I take it NOBODY has successfully installed this down pipe without over boost

It looks like Cliff is having more luck with his set up than I am,![]()
Cliff's set up: SE Turbo , Piper downpipe, Piper 2 1/4 inch exhaust, wastegate ported to 20 - 21mm, Bosch O2 sensor, Everest chip.![]()
Steve's set up: SE Turbo , Piper downpipe, Paul Matty 2 inch exhaust , wastegate ported to 20mm, Standard chip![]()
So is having the Everest chip containing the over boost ?
I would have thought that the Piper 2 1/4 would flow better than the Matty 2 thus making over boost more likelyI take it the Piper is a single box like the Matty?
I did go for another drive around the lane's today,I didn't cane it so much and kept away from nasty men in big 4X4's, didn't get over boostit was a warmer day

I agree. It is working too well.
I don't think the pipe is working too well. Because the waste gate flow isn't separated from the turbine flow, we are getting a lot of high pressure turbulent air directly downstream from the wategate port. This is causing less air to flow through the waste gate (something porting the waste gate can't fix).
To make the piper downpipe work well it would need to be modified with a baffle to keep the waste gate and turbine flow separate for some distance, much like the OEM and Knox downpipes have.

I think that's one of the things the Everest does, why do you not have one fitted Steve?
Did you get the turbo rebuilt when it was ported?
Are you sure you don't have a sticky waste gate?

) waiting for her return...a new set of hoses (in orange ) waiting for her return...
you've been spending too much time with Rip's So I guess I have a successful installation
That's good we now have two positive results so far one SE and one S2
Any Elanscan runs to post and drool over? We won't be happy until we've seen some.
you must keep your foot hard to the floor and let the revs build to maximum
