S2 lock set

Postby chrisP » Sat 04.05.2013, 14:49

Can someone who owns an S2, tell me how many different keys come as standard. On the S1 there is one key for the ignition, one for the door and boot locks and one for the glovebox. I just want one for the whole lot, but it looks like I can't source a glovebox catch that will match the ignition key. Thanks in advance

Thanks Geoff, you have the key that has the serrations down the side, instead of the more modern keys with the center milled out? Is there any chance you could have a look at your glove box catch and tell me the GM part number? I can source the door locks easy enough.

Correct, it's an old style key. Some LEC links here and also on the Wiki.

Chris/Geoff, I too would like one key for all. I'm unfamiliar with the S2 locks sine we never saw the S2 in North America. Geoff, when you say one key fits all can you say which key it is? I mean in terms of which SE key it would be assuming it is one of them (if at all). I'm sure you're familiar with the SE keys and that the doors/trunk is a very old style, simply key with serrations on one side only. The ignition is a larger, more robust key with serrations on both sides and the glovebox key is one of these laser cut keys with no serrations on the sides but has the pattern in the middle of the key. Lastly, as an example only, let's say its the ignition key style of the SE that fits all on the S2. If so, then replacing the trunk/boot and glovebox locks would be required. Are they still available from anyone in the UK? Thanks!
