Google gives me a 'best' option of M5, M4, off at J18 (where i could meet you in the laybye just up the A46).....

...It also gives an option via M5 J14 then across to Tetbury ('B' roads) - which I suppose is better for you.....

....then there is an option to go M4 to J17 (A429) - which is (presumably) best for Pete???

All 3 options are within 6 miles and 2 minutes of each other for me, but if I hear nowt from anyone, I'll make my own way there without a 'convoy'

For me the route is clearly via J17 up the A429. Satnav advises only 20 miles and 35 min door to door, there is a lay by just up (about 100yds) from the motorway turn off on the A429 if you want to meet. Just say what time!

This route not so good for Geoff I suspect! His best route is via the A4058, A4135 & A433. You might wish to tag on to him - if he ever resurfaces!

Despite the customary BOLLECKS lack of planning and coordination, it wasn't a bad night.

Bugger, overheated on the way home, car abandoned in a pub car park, collected by wife! After I'd called her I discovered the a hose has sprung off the heater matrix on the bulkhead, will return tomorrow to see if that is all that's wrong!

Just so you don't feel too bad about a slight overheating issue - it could have been worse......

......the rear wheel bearing noise that i mentioned on the vectra got steadily (and then substantially) worse until i reached Tetbury, whereupon i decided to stop and see what was happening, only to discover the RNS wheel hanging on by just 2 loose bolts

Luckily I had 4 spare bolts in the boot (from when it had locking ones fitted) so worked out how to use a Vauxhall jack in a dark layby - and then bent the ignition key trying to pry the jacking point covers off...

...got the wheel re-fixed and straightened the key with a kerbstone and half a brick - got home with no further issues, and even the "wheel bearing" is fixed now .....

....just can't get the slightly misshaped key out of the ignition lock - so that's tomorrows job when i can see whats happening and get some pliers on it.

Sod's law that I was commenting on the (now mistaken) belief that all (3) of the families cars were running spot on for the first time this year, me and my big mouth

The engine bay smelt awful so I fear bad things when I return to it tomorrow, that said after my initial stop I was able to restart it for a 100 yard drive to the pub car park, the publican was very helpful and it is parked in line of site of his CCTV - not that anyone can nick it at present!

Sorry to hear of your woes, now you have a choice of cars to work on!

Ouch, sounds like it got exciting after we left last night! I'm pleased to say I just drive home, no drama, just enjoyable. Thanks for coming along, was good to catch up before we set sail.

Ok, all sorted! Checked oil, reattached hose, refilled coolant; fired up 1st time, drove home, temp good, oil pressure good. Seems I got away with it!

Be glad when my new Samco hoses arrive!

New battery in alarm fob got the red one back on the road - new wheelbolts for the Vectra keeps that one on the road - back to a nearly-all-working fleet

Will, hope it all goes as smoothly as it can, you and mrs madbilly soon find some suitable permanent accomodation, and your furniture arrives as efficiently as wished for.
