Third Ormskirk Motor Fest - Sunday 25th August 2013

I went to the Ormskirk Motor Fest for the first time last year. I have to say it's just about the best event of its kind I've been to.

I can confirm that it's free to spectate and also completely free to register/display your car. As I did last year, I've registered for the display and parade laps. Doing this gives a guaranteed event parking space for the day. otherwise it's park some distance away and either walk in or catch the bus.

We managed three red Elans last year and I have to say they all attracted a great amount of interest from the public! It would be really good, this year, to have some other colours to show!

So is anybody else up for a great day out with their Elan?

Roland I have now got my response from the organiser of this event to say I'm registered for the parade, is there anything else I need do other than turn up on the day?

Are we going to meet prior to arrival and go in convoy at all ?

Hi Rob

That's all you need to do for now. Around two weeks before the event you'll receive, by e-mail, an information pack for the day.

This pack contains all your instructions including arrival time, display bay position, parade time etc. etc. There are also some stickers for your windscreen giving you an event number. Finally, it's a condition of displaying that you prepare an information sheet to display on/around your vehicle, giving brief details of interest about your car. They do suggest details that should be given, including any modifications (probably about half the sheet in your case !! )

If all of our arrival times match up, which I think they will, then a convoy in would be good fun. We can arrange that after the packs arrive.

A few of the Guys from the Mini club I am a member of are looking at attending in their classic mini's, looks like it's going to be a fantastic event, lets hope we get a good spell of weather

Well, the good news is that the information pack for the Motorfest has just arrived by e-mail. We have three Elans registered and displaying, two Calypso Red and one NMY.

There is some bad news though. It appears that there are so many vehicles (cars & bikes) registered for this year (almost 300!) that not all entrants who wished to are able to do the parade laps. Unfortunately our Elans, along with many other cars, are listed as static display only i.e. we won't be taking part in the parade laps.

I'm going to check with the organisers whether this will apply to our Elans from now on, or if they are going to apply some sort of rota basis year on year.

Although it's understandable, because of the greater numbers involved, it is a shame because it was a real highlight of the day for us all last year.

excellent day out with Roland and Tim, the Elans drew a good number of admiring glances and a fair few pleasant comments and numerous questions about the cars, shame none of us were in the parade but a great time was had by all, some superb machinery on display and the place was packed as well, weather was fantastic as well which always helps with these events
Big thanks to Roland for the early morning Coffee's and to Tim for bringing the Gazebo which came in useful to protect from the sunshine.

It was a very good day and my impression was that the event was significantly bigger than last year. I think its reputation is growing year on year. Plenty of interest shown in our Elans and a number of people stopping to ask questions. Even met the Guy who owns G19TUS (I have E19TUS), mind you he does have it on a special edition Exige.

Weather was terrific and despite Tim's very welcome Gazebo (How big was that!!) I ended up back at home with my face the colour of Tomatoes! It'll turn brown soon, I hope.
