Glovebox Latch

Postby CrtlAltSuppr » Wed 21.08.2013, 08:45

Hello All,

My glovebox latch was bloked so that I could not open it. After many trials, I have finally been able to open the glovebox and I have removed the latch. One Pin was not in place.

So I have dismounted it.

So I don't know how to mount it correctly!

Seems the spring is not in place properly, and I cannot close the glovebox. Do you have any pictures or any tips to give me?

Many Thanks!

David

If anyone is in need of a replacement, I've managed to get hold of 3 pcs in Germany.
Whitout key.
Would like to keep one for myself as spare (owning 3 Elan's now, I guess I will need one sometime).
I payed £25,- incl. shipping.
Not looking for profit on selling them.

Do these have the S2 style lock barrel in them (just with no key)? If so, I'll take one!

I'm off on a business trip until next Thursday, could make some pictures when I'm back home...
I didn't know there are different models ?
I got them off Opel Omega A gloveboxes (had to buy the complete boxes).
My S2 was missing it when I bought it, so I never payed attention to any differences in SE and S2 models...

I believe the only difference is the key. The S2 uses the same key for all (ignition, door, glove box) while the SE uses a different key for all three (go figure). So, if what you've picked up is for an S2 key then that'd be ideal.

Thanks Geoff, can you tell me which of these Vauxhall models would do (as I've never seen the S2 locks other than briefly on yours) or do you think any would do the trick? I do see what looks like door and trunk/boot cylinders (and maybe ignition) but I'm thinking I might still need the glovebox one as well.
