I can't make that decision for you. Shipping to Canada is troublesome as it is an international charge regardless where it is shipped from and PNM is free bulk shipping to 2 central shipment locations, UK and USA. It is a LONG package which raises the price and you could be looking at over $30.00 forwarding charges instead of the $13.00 we are seeing for US postage. PM me if you have any other ideas.

OK, that's it.

I have contacted PNM and given them the final tallies for the UK/EU buyers and the US/Canada buyers.

They have already ordered the extra stock to fill our orders but I asked them to provide invoices with shipping dates so we can pay them and we know exactly when we can expect the strips to arrive.

Thank you all for joining this Group Buy.

I will start noting on the list those that have paid us. Dave will start doing the same with buyers on your side of the pond.

This is intended as an update, NOT to demand payment from anyone not yet ready to pay :D

I have (about 10 minutes ago!) paid PNM in full for the entire Group Buy of these strips.

That means that as soon as they are ready for delivery, they will send them out in 3 parcels without having to wait for anything else, so we will get them a bit quicker than if they have to wait for straglers to pay.

The first parcel is off across the pond to USA, as it will take a bit longer to get there.

The second parcel (21 pairs/units) will come to me, probably at the beginning of October.

The third parcel (22 units) will come to me about 10 days later.

At the moment, I have the intention of sending them out in an appropriate order depending on necessity, final destination(postage time), and payment received.

As such, if anyone (paid or otherwise) is in desperate need/want, just let me know and I'll prioritise your order, failing that, they'll get sent to mainland europe and UK in the order in which they were paid for.

As I stated at the beginning, I am NOT chasing up money, and I fully understand if you wish to wait until I have the strips in hand and ready to ship before you pay (Thanks Bob!), but I hope you understand that I am unable to send them out before I receive the money.

(Thanks Bob!)

Its a legacy that will take a long time to repair. I will square up for these in the next 24-48 and am in no rush whatsoever, FYI. Just happy to know these are on the way. I think I have a couple of other group buys to pay for too, and some private sales, and some cards to debit and payments to update for the hubs, which are now in insertion mode (I will go post this on the right topic, just popped in for a moan!). Life is a muddle right now.Wife is ill and while they are happy days, most days are kiddie days just now. When I finally get back to my car there is going to be a BIG push. In the interim, LEC is keeping me sated with great group buys like these - but it doesn't compare to getting the thing on the road, which I desperately hope to do in the next 1-2 months.

I am pleased to announce that all of the US/Canada buyers have sent their payments and are now waiting anxiously for their new projects to arrive. We expect (hope) they will get here in two to three weeks.

I have the boxes, packing and labels lined up so they all should go back out within 24 hours of receipt.

PNM has advised that the first shipment of strips bound for the US/Canada will go out tonight and should arrive by week's end.

I have a tracking number but nothing shows up yet as it has probably not even collected or scanned.

We will have more details soon and also will be advised when the first UK shipment is sent.

If you did NOT receive an LEC PM with your payment amount and details on how to make the payment, PLEASE let me know.

I thought I caught everyone but found one member that was missed (resolved today, SORRY :banghead: )

Thank you again to all participants.

The TNT tracking number for the US shipment is active but the package seems to have had a hard time getting out of the East Midlands Airport and now the Liege Euro Hub in Belgium. I don't believe I will receive the package tomorrow, but luck might change...

The tracking on the Canadian shipment shows the same issues, so I guess we will see the packages on Thursday or Friday.

More news when things improve.

Been watching the tracking numbers and the US shipment has been received in NY and has cleared customs. The Canadian package shows "in transit from the Liege Euro Hub", so should get there soon.

When the shipment arrives to me, I will post a picture and start filling the boxes and printing the labels so the strips can be on their way to you as quickly as possible.

Blair: Please let me know if there are any problems with Customs or whatever regarding your shipment.

Only a few more days until the first UK shipment heads out to Dave, so we will try to keep everyone informed as to what is going on.

Sorry, this deal is over, final order placed and pieces have started to be shipped.

That said, sometimes, members that have joined the "group buy" decide they really don't need the item or funds dry up and might need to back out.

I will keep watch of the progress and if a set becomes available, you will be invited to take over the position on the list.

Sorry for not being able to add you but Thank You for your interest.

Watch this area as deals pop up often.

US shipment arrived but the strips are 2.5" longer than the strips I have for my car. They are also significantly heavier.

I am looking for the best way to pack them as tubes to support items this heavy need to be stronger on the ends than the tubes I was planning on using. I will work this out by Monday.

Mine came straight as an arrow and a bit long too, yet the ones on my car are curved... One of the reasons I am holding off tearing into my doors until someone else has tried them. They also have a metal frame. I think we have plastic frames on the originals, allowing for the bend. :poke:

Original strips have a mild steel backing while the PNM strips have a stainless steel backing. The length issue is caused by making the strips longer so they fit the S2 which has a longer length. It appears they added to both ends, just to be safe.

If you look closely, the tabs are not spaced evenly so there is a definite left side versus the right side. You need to work with one strip at a time and match up the old strip with the new one before you get too far along. Check your original strip and make sure it fit nicely before using it as a pattern for the new strip and remember, the slight curves will shorten the effective length as you progress, so don't cut them too short.

The recommendation for cutting the length is to use a razor to trim the rubber and a grinder to trim the steel backing. Go slowly with the grinder and allow the steel to stay cool as you cut it. No need to melt the rubber buy going too quickly. A dremel or similar tool using a grinding disk should be good. Blades probably won't do much good against the stainless. Maybe a high speed saw but use a very fine toothed metal blade.

I have always found it easiest to "bend" strips by starting at the end that causes the remainder to be ABOVE the door so you are always pushing the strip down and into place. As you attach a tab, seat the next section and secure that tab. Go one tab at a time and be patient. Heavy bending usually just kinks the backing which will prevent the strip from lining up correctly.
