New hood

Had the original 22 year old hood replaced yesterday by Car Hood Wharehouse at Chessington and first impressions are very favorable
Firstly I am very lucky to have reasonably good seals which have not been damaged in any way that I can see by the removal of the old fabric or fitment of the new.
The new hood is,I belive, the S2 design. It is slightly wider and covers the window seals more effectively and has the extended "guttering" which extends down the door glass onto the hood storage deck. Quality seems very good
They also replaced the elastic webbing which centres the support hoops.
Dropped the car off at 8-30am and it was ready for me to pick up at 5pm. The guys were very friendly and were knowledgeable about the car and the issues with the (unavailable) seals.
They advise to leave the top up for at least 48 hours to let the fabric stretch to shape so I haven't put it down yet but overall very pleased with the result

Looking forward to seeing your car the next time you're over for a Southern Meet. The price on their website looks pretty reasonable compared with what I recall quoted for other companies in other threads. You mentioned that you lucky to have reasonably good seals - mine aren't so good - would that make a difference do you think?

Replacing the fabric is obviously a great improvement but it won't cure seal problems. I feel we should all offer our support to the effort currently being made by members to get a batch of seals produced.

Just a quick update on the new hood.
Had time this morning to have a good examination of the hood and gave her a wash off. Workmanship seems excellent, good quality and fit. The wider hood and longer gutters directs water away from the window and B post seals, not perfect but a great improvement over the standard SE type.
Very pleased and would recommend Car Hood Warehouse to anyone with reasonable seals but tatty fabric

That's a great looking hood - I like the extended coverage over the seals - it gives it a more finished, buttoned down look
