From my experience of meets and shows, all we need is a decent campsite somewhere centralish, a reasonable time of year June-Sept for weather. And a few decent routes for a convoy. Oh did I forget something? A good pub and curry house for one of the nights and a local supermarket for beers for a second night. Keeps costs down and make for a good time.

My fav full show was definatley Malvern but it is a treck for us Northerners (Mr Smith shhhhhhhhh...)

Curry night
Drinking malt out of plastic cups in the Travelodge
Navigation inn
Saturday morning M1 convoy from the South
Convoy to show - down the list as a bit depleted this year
Malvern showground
Mr. Vicker's pyjamas
Donington circuit - only made it down to the pits one year and there's not a lot of track/action to see unlike Brands which was superb but not exactly central and probably a bit far for the precious Mr. Walker

I agree with the above, it's the people that make it, not the venue/event.

Went to the Lotus Festival at Brands Hatch last year, a low turnout of Elan people and bad weather made it not as good as previous years. The action on track was excellent and had a good time walking round the track. However, this year there it is not going to be an all-weekender camping event according thelotusforums, just the Sunday only.

I'd go for a weekend of camping with a group of Lotus people, go out for a curry, go for a drive, BBQ, etc. The Wales trip was a great, something along those lines would be awesome.

I'm may be selling the Elan this year, so would be nice to do something in possibly my last year of Elan ownership.

Shaun, the Lotus Festival is focussing on Sunday as the main day but I think the circuit is still open from the Friday and Seloc are still
(I believe) having the usual camping weekender.

That's good news! Would be great to have a better turnout of camping Elan owners this year , but I guess the location (although a great track and great place) makes it a very long journey for many

The "Exhibition Hall" was half empty last year, probably due to falling year on year attendance. I think it's clear that Donington, as a venue for this show, is accelerating along a steepening slope of poor quality facilities, lousy external conditions and, as a consequence, declining public attendance.

Last year's show was a pale shadow of the very first one I attended back in 2008. What a shame!

The jist in CL news was that they are looking for a new venue and are open to ideas from members, and most importantly, the traders that attend the show. So won't be at Donington in 2016.
