Yep, a bit surprising - 97 bids and with nearly a week still to go!

(and if anyone on here does end up with it, just ask, and I'll send you the service history and all the paperwork which I still retain).

Edit: PS the oil filler cap must be worth £1k on its own!! :D :D

I wondered what was pushing the price up so quickly.

It's cracked the £1500 mark. Too rich for my blood - I'm out.
Wouldn't have thought anyone would think they could make a profit breaking it at that price, so maybe we will see it again... hope so.

Well, tomorrow at 8pm we'll all find out its true value; although it's a professional site, there may be a flurry of late bids!

There is a £100 admin fee, VAT, debit/credit card fee and collection within 24 hours to pay on top of the auction price.

Well, there was no last-minuts flurry of bids - so Kenny26 picked it up for £1530 - so with the admin fee + VAT we now know that a Cat C elan is worth £1956 :?

That's a bit spooky - 1956 was my number when I was in the police :D

You unlock this door with the key of imagination. Beyond it is another dimension— a dimension of sound, a dimension of sight, a dimension of mind. You're moving into a land of both shadow and substance, of things and ideas. You've just crossed over into the Twilight Zone.

Sorry, can't do the theme!

I am Kenny26

I think I won because I wasn't looking for a cash profit just wanted to buy the bits I need for the 4 project cars that have stalled due to lack of funds/cheap replacement parts available.

They absorbed the admin fee, I think they put it in the T&C for cars that just meet the reserve price at auction, the transport cost me about £220 in van hire and fuel so more like £1750 all in (Dave can leave the twilight zone now).

I have to say that it went really well except me forgetting my user name in the office and having to phone Dave to ask him the reg of the car. I also forgot the jump pack so I had to push it and winch it onto the trailer (didn't forget the winch though).

Not sure what to do next as there is no V5c or V5c2, maybe I'll phone them tomorrow and ask them if they have notified the DVLA.

Coming soon to a VIC testing station near by....

Congrats Phil. So how much would you want for the roll-hoops, rear wishbones and 2 wheels?

I've made a decision to lock this thread now, for 2 reasons:-

1) It's MY thread, I started it, and it has come to a natural conclusion for ME.

2) Phil has openly declared that he is the new owner of the car - this is no surprise to me as we have been in communication about it for a while, but it wasn't ever my place to say anything.
I don't believe that the car will be broken for selling-at-a-profit - Phil wanted a car to be a major donor for the rest of his fleet, so if the vultures keep circling on this thread, nowt positive can come of it, and Phil will just get annoyed!.....

....that said, I'm sure that if/when Phil wants to sell anything, We'll be told/offered - but I wouldn't hold your breath for the wishbones!!!!! (see the list Phil made elsewhere for bits he was looking for if you want to know what you ain't going to get)
