Yes I do hate ebay but only place to sell. Have tried to sell stuff on forums but just get people making unrelated comments and seeking mates rates. Yes did okay on the seats but is that relevant to this post? I thought this was a 'Parts For Sale' thread not a discussion on why I'm breaking the car, my ebay history or how much I sold something for. Was planning on buying another better Elan but not sure now. I 'm just trying to sell the parts and get my money back on a car uneconomical to repair but based on some of the reaction maybe Elan ownership isn't for me. I have owned mk1 and mk2 golf gti's for years and am a member of most if not all of these forums. Never had a problem. Happy to close this thread now moderators as its moved away from its original purpose. Thanks for all the genuine enquiries, the vast majority of the Lotus community and good luck with Elan ownership to all. Great little cars.

I think Epipete hit it on the head above.

Knowing the characters personally on the forum my interpretation was that all was said with a few wry smiles and tongues in cheeks (stop making your own jokes about which cheeks!), rather than being nasty.

We ARE a friendly community but also because it's quite close-knit, we are also a bunch of p!$$-takers, and that can seem intimidating to newbies (or those unused to irony). Apollo, please don't let it put you off Elan ownership, because I assure you if you come along to Donington or any other local meetings you'll soon see it for what it really is.

We have to have well developed senses of humour in order to drive around putting up with wet knees and numerous rattles and squeaks, while defending ourselves from comments such as "hairdressers' cars" and the old favourite "Lots Of Trouble Usually Serious"!

Anyway, I don't mind locking the thread seeing as it's served its purpose, but hopefully this has ended it on a positive note.
