Your location would also help as the dash is really big and awkward to move around.

Hi de_stanny,

Sorry to hear of your predicament.

Whilst I can't directly help with parts, I am assuming that it is a LHD Fed car.....

...is it the whole dashboard assembly that you need (quite awkward to find, and a bit of a bugger to replace), or 'just' the facia pannel that the stereo fits into (a bit easier to source, and a lot easier to fit).

I would suggest that someone like Elanlover or lotusgirlmarie might be a good place to make enquiries - both have done work on this area, and may be able to suggest the best way forward - either with replacement or repair of what you have.

Just the one now, but this one's mine! - and it will be finished eventually..... - but also temporary custodian of a project until it is finished enough for Angie to drive it

...oh, and a 2006 Freelander destined for the jungles of The Gambia - 4500 miles across roads, desert and tracks - what could possibly go wrong?

I have a spare LHD dashboard. But depending on where in the world you are. The shipping charges would be very expensive. As BCN mentioned. best to let people know where you are located. So as you can get better help from people local to you. But I agree with dapinky. I suspect that it is the facia panel that you need... Sorry. I can't help with that part. It was missing from my donor car :(

They seem to be listed as NLA. So you may have to look at a repair.

More details would be helpful but you can always try Dave Bean who are the official Lotus parts provider for the Elan in North America. Their prices won't be cheap but if you need it then you need it.

Dave Bean has TWO of them in stock right now. His part number is 100V0062. They are listed in his price guide at $1,500.00 each but he is somewhat willing to negotiate. He does NOT have a facia panel which he last listed at $800.00.

The huge problem is the size and fragility of the dash which is basically just a skin so hard to support and would need to ship by truck because it is way over the max size allowance for UPS and FedEX.

If he is ever in the Charlotte, NC area, I have a new dash still in the original Lotus box but by the time I had it shipped here from the UK as one of very few pieces in a $7,000.00 container, $1,500.00 is less than the listed cost in my inventory but I too, would be willing to discuss prices. I believe I have a VGC Used Facia panel as well, but it would be nice to know exactly what the damage is and what is needed.

To the original poster: it's worth putting your location in your profile because it saves people having to be reminded each time a request or problem is aired.

Yes I know it's been said HERE  (gate, horse, bolted etc.) but what happens when another request comes up in an unrelated thread - are we just supposed to remember where everyone is from?!?

That is nasty. I believe the fascia is made out of a hardened foam much like the door panels, centre console, etc., then covered with a matte black rubberized paint/coating. It might be possible to remove then repair the fascia and paint it over with something close to the original colour and texture. Black Plastidip in a spray can should work and is what I've used on my custom fascia.
