My new paint was visibly damaged from 2 days of hood up, after 6 weeks curing. Fixable, but not ideal. I wish (and I would like to) I had 4-5 of these so that it can go on in the winter and come off in the summer. Older paint would fade differently under this dependent on material so perhaps after a few years it might become more noticeable than scratches?

Another thought - why not stick it to the hood seal instead!!

The package for the US members arrived yesterday- you made it all too easy having them all packed and labelled inside of the box! The ones for the three US people on this list have been sent out via USPS today. I have tracking in them if they don't show up by the middle/end of next week.

It arrived yesterday. Didn't have a chance to open it yet, but I suspect it is in good order.

Any application tips? For example: should the surface be treated with rubbing alcohol to remove any wax before applying?

Ken, clean the surface of wax then put the hood up and mark where the outer edge of the hood runs, chalk or tape etc. fold the hood away, then mist some soapy water on to the surface and attach the protector lining it up with your markings

Squeegee the air bubbles and soapy water out from under the protector - carefully - but try to get as much out from under as possible. Work from the center out all along the protector. Plastic, spatula type squeegees are available at WallMart, KMart and most any auto paint supply house.

Getting the surface as clean and free of waxes and polishes is a big part of having it look good when you are finished.

You also should clean off any wax or other protectant that is in the area you want to apply it. Absolute cleanliness is necessary.

From this, I searched out some suitable products on Amazon and ordered them. This is the cleaner stuff and the application stuff. When I do it, I'll post some before and after images.
